Xbox One 5.1 Surround not working properly

Hi, first let me tell you about my setup.

I have a Samsung UE55H6200 TV (tvs)

I have a Samsung HT-J4500 Home Cinema System (Home Cinema, Soundbars & Blu-Ray Spelers)

My TV and the home cinema system both support HDMI ARC so everything audio automatically goes through the hdmi to the home cinema system.

Here is the problem.... I can't properly get the 5.1 surround from my Xbox One through my home cinema system. when I started the first episode of 'the blacklist' to test the 5.1 surround I noticed that the voices were so faint that they were practically
nonexistant.

I downloaded a video to test for surround sound, and it works perfectly when I plug it in my tv or home cinema system but for some reason the xbox only gives me the front left and fron right speakers. the reason the voices were so faint is because they were
supposed to come from the surround boxes behind me and for some reason the audio feed for those go to the front speakers only much much much softer than they should be. (this happens when I'm using 5.1 uncompressed, bitstream output results in no sound at
all)

I have tried every possible combination of settings/connections I have on my systems, is this something ms still has to fix or am I maybe doing something wrong?

P.S. my home cinema system does not support bitstream so please don't start telling me to use bitstream output through an optical cable, I really have tried it all.

Vudu: no surround at all with 7.1 output

When choosing 7.1 Uncompressed I only hear 3.1 (Left, Center, Right+Sub) with no surround at all. Change settings to 5.1 uncompressed or DTS and surround in Vudu works properly. Games and Netflix play surround properly when 7.1 is chosen.

 

Surround Sound Complications

I would like to consider myself a Techie but when I setup my Xbox One I got for a present I only ran into frustration and issues.

Equipment & Setup:

Xbox One plugged into a Sony Receiver via HDMI. Receiver plugged into TV via HDMI cable.

Xbox One set to 5.1 uncompressed (as suggested via researching this online). Receiver states 3/2.1 PCM - I set it to PLII Movie, thus 5.1 Surround Sound.

Issue:

Hulu app will not play 5.1 surround sound, only FL & FR speakers.

Previews on a Blu-Ray wouldn't play 5.1 surround sound but the actual movie would.

Pandora will only play through FL & FR speakers, no sub.

Netflix will play 5.1 surround sound. Games will play 5.1 surround sound.

Confusion:

Why are some items playing surround sound and others are not? My previous console had no issues playing Hulu at 5.1 surround sound with same HDMI setup. My other devices I'm using on the receiver are playing 5.1 surround sound just fine.

Seeking help with this. I would hate to return the Xbox One due to something as trivial as Audio. Especially since a device as simple as my Chromcast and PS3 had no issues whatsoever. But if I can't solve this within the week I will have to return for a
PS4.

ok, never mind I got it to work.

apparantly when using HDMI ARC the digital input is automatically turned off. once I turned the ARC off in the home cinema menu I got it to work connecting the optical cable directly into the home cinema system.

it seems that only an mpeg bitstream is not supported.
