Xbox One 4K Blu-ray Playback issues

So I recently bought "Baywatch" in 4K. When we got home and went to watch the movie about 30 min in the sound cut out. The video continued to play with no pause. A couple seconds later the sound came back. A minute later
the sound cut out again. The video continued to play with no issues. This time when the sound came back it was out of sync like an old Bruce Lee movie. You could see their lips saying one thing and the audio was about 2-5 seconds off from this.
I tried to reset my Xbox and we attempted to watch the movie a total of about 4-6 times. It always had the same issue. Always at the exact same time and the exact same way. We have about 30 other 4K movies and tons of standard Blu-rays as well that
we have never had any issues with play back. So we decided to return it to Best Buy. The second copy did exactly the same thing! We returned this one as well.

While there speaking with customer service their "home theater expert" was called over to give his input. He stated that this is a Huge known issue to Microsoft and they are doing all they can to fix this that is a coding issue with newer movies and
there are half a dozen movies that will do this, Wonder Woman being one of them. I have several newer movies and have never had this issue.

When I was on the phone with Xbox Tech Support they had no idea about this "issue" and looked into it a few levels up the food chain and no one had any idea about it. I have not been able to find anything on this and I have a feeling this kid at best
buy was just full of it.

So I am curious if anyone else has had this issue at all with any movie play back like this? If so what was the title and format of the movie.

    :)

    4k support

several new release Blu-Rays are coming mastered in 4K so its time the Xbox One did an update to support the playback. I have a 4K tv and dont want to pay out for another blu ray surround to get 4k support when the Xbox could and should support playback..its
    only firmware afterall isnt it?

    The Xbox One S 4K Blu-Ray Player Is A Disaster...Good Job!!

There are a number of AV issues with the Xbox One S/X and UHD Blu-ray playback, your guess is as good as mine if they will be fixed.

Certain UHD titles are broken and will not play.

    Dolby Atmos is unreliable.

4K AV receiver HDMI handshaking issues.

Image quality issues, the wrong color matrix being used in Blu-ray playback (see review comparison

    in link
    ).

They could have broken something on the One S in their rush to fix the broken Blu-ray HDR on the One X with the 10.0.16299.4037 that includes said HDR fix.

Xbox One 4K Blu-ray Playback issues

Just got my first 4k blu ray (The Martian: Extended Edition). Sound worked fine for a while, playing in Dolby Atmos on my 5.1.2 setup. Randomly went out of sync by a few seconds. I turned off the Xbox and restarted the show, skipping to where i left off,
it played fine for a few minutes then went out of sync again. This time i used rewind, went back about 10 seconds, and sound was back in sync. It continued to randomly play out of sync for the rest of the movie, if i used rewind or fast forward it would sync
correctly. Sometimes it would work well for seconds, other times it would go for 10 minutes. Sound System stayed in Dolby Atmos the whole time, audio receiver never gave any indication signal had changed or anything. Display never changed, and i monitored
it on my phone through the Onkyo app as well. I feel like it was entirely the Xbox's fault. I had issues with video stutter on my One S with standard bluray. I have only watched one other standard blu ray on the X (Moana), i was only half watching with my
kids, but i don't think it went out of sync at all.

    UHD Blu Rays

It doesn't support 4K UHD playback.

If you are referring to "Mastered in 4K" discs those are just 1080p titles made from a 4K master.

New hardware is required to playback UHD Blu-Ray.

Blu Ray Player out of sinc after latest console update!!!!

Not sure about the sync issue, but the Blu-ray app on my XB1 S keeps wanting to update every time I go to the update section in "my games & apps". And also 4k playback isn't working.

It seems the latest console update messed up the Blu-ray/video playback in many areas.

    3D blu-ray

All Blu-ray players use software for playback. It is called firmware and generally is user updateable. The Xbox One is a proper Blu-ray player that has issues at the moment. Lip sync and no 3D playback among them.
