  1. Xbox One 3.5mm Headset not detected - intermittent

bear with me whilst i explain this one...!

Have an Xbox One which has been working fine up until around 4 weeks ago. Now whenever i connect a headset to the 3.5mm port, it is not detected.

so tried a different controller and no success.

only change i can think of is changing from Sky broadband, to BT Broadband using the Smart Hub.

so opened all the ports for the xbox, static IP, DMZ and still no joy.

Took xbox and controler to a different house, which has the same BT broadband setup and the headset works fine with the same controller and xbox as the first house! Only difference is the speed, house 1 is 10mbps vs 76mbps at house 2.

At a real loss with this one, can’t figure it out at all. Anyone got any suggestions?

    :)

  2. headphones without an adapter

    Hello

The newer version of Xbox One controllers have a 3.5mm jack so you can plug in any headset which has a 4 pole 3.5mm connector in order to use that as a headset and microphone.

USB headsets do not work though

  3. Headset problems

I got one of the new wired star wars controllers but there is no where to put the adapter in for my xbox one stereo headset. I took the adapter out and put the headset itself into the 3.5mm jack and it works fine but theres no way to change the volume so
I have it stuck at full volume. While it's plugged into the controller it can't be detected in devices and accessories in the settings menu to change the volume from there either. Do I need a new adapter for the 3.5mm or do I need a new headset all together?
    Help would be appreciated.

Xbox One 3.5mm Headset not detected - intermittent

    Hi zincoxide1979,

Thanks for posting about this, a recommendation would to try those controllers on another console with the headset. The headsets and controllers may be working fine but the console could just not be processing them correctly.

If the issue does not appear on another console try a soft factory reset with these steps:

(BE SURE TO VERIFY AND HAVE ALL LOGIN INFORMATION FOR YOUR MICROSOFT ACCOUNT BEFORE TRYING THIS)

    1. Go to Settings on your console
    2. Select System
    3. Select Console Info
    4. Select Reset console
    5. Choose reset console and keep my games & apps
I hope this information helps, thanks again!

Where did the Party Chat Mixer go for Xbox One?

Are you using a 3.5mm jack headset? There is an audio setting that appears when you plug one in and the controller detects it on the settings tab of the Guide.

    Xbox One Controller Specifications

When the original Xbox One launched there was no 3.5mm port for headsets. This jack port wasn't added until 2015. So before that this port was used with Xbox One specific headsets or you could purchase a headset adapter to use for your headsets that required
    a 3.5mm jack.

Nowadays it's used with the chatpad and some headsets still use it. But the 3.5mm jack is still what most people use.

Confusion about XBoxOne headset vs. controller compatibility

    Hi

The two headsets that you have listed above have 3.5mm jacks on them that will connect to all Xbox One controllers that have the 3.5mm jack. If you have an earlier level controller without the 3.5mm jack port then you will require the headset adapter or
    chatpad below.

Can I use USB Headset on the Xbox one

USB headsets do not work with Xbox One. The only ones that will work are ones that use a 3.5mm jack with the controller or one of their (Xbox) certified headsets.
