    "Xbox on/turn off" no longer turning TV on/off anymore


    So I was using this function all the time but now it no longer works. The only new variables are a new soundbar and new controller.

    I was able to connect my new soundbar to my Xbox and it can be controlled with the kinect, no problems. But now my TV will no longer turn off or on with the kinect commands.

    I've tried shutting it down with long press to reset and no change there. I've tried to disconnect the soundbar to get it back to the original setup, still didn't work. I've tried changing the settings to toggle and that didn't do anything either.

    I'm out of ideas.

    "Xbox off" turns the Xbox off but not my TV and/or Receiver... Should it?

    So if I say "Xbox on", everything turns on perfectly (Xbox, TV and receiver). When I say "Xbox off", only the Xbox turns off leaving the TV and receiver on. Should it turn everything off? It seems to me that is a no brainier. What's the point if not...

    So if I'm watch tv without the xbox one on and decide to turn it on, my tv shuts off. Same with if my tv is already off and I turn off my xbox one the tv turns on. Any idea what I'm doing wrong or where I could find the settings to fix this annoying but
    very minor problem?

    Xbox One X won’t turn on my Vizio soundbar

    Unfortunately, this did not solve the problem. I’ve noticed the Xbox isn’t turning the TV on or off now either. So to recap, the xbox will turn the soundbar off and adjust the volume and no longer do anything to the tv.

    The Xbox did not previously have this issue with the same tv.

    I too am interested in this: the XB1 should send discrete power On and Off commands, not simply power toggle. What's the latest news on this issue?

    Also, I have a few suggestions for the Xbox One Developers/Team:

    1) Assuming XB1 is in Instant-On mode, saying "Xbox On" should turn on the console only. Saying "Xbox Everything On" or "Xbox All On" should turn on everything (XB1 console, TV, cable/set-top box, A/V receiver, etc.). Similarly for Off.

    2) Using the controller, pressing the Xbox button (or holding the Xbox button for a short time--e.g., 1 sec) should turn on XB1 console only. Holding the Xbox button for a longer time (e.g., 3 secs) should cause everything to turn on (e.g., XB1 console,
    TV, cable/set-top box, AVR, etc.). When holding the Xbox button to turn off, there should be three options: turn off console, turn off controller, or turn everything off (e.g., console, TV, box, AVR, controller, etc.)

    3) Perhaps, there should also be separate commands for turning on or off each individual device. For example "Xbox TV turn on" and "Xbox TV turn off"; "Xbox Cable Box turn on" and "Xbox Cable Box turn off"; "Xbox, AVR turn on" and "Xbox, AVR turn off", etc.

    Plus, shouldn't it turn on and off my TV as well? I can mute and play with the volume but when I say " turn off" it leaves the tv on...

    Silent so when you turn the tv off via the xbox the tv light goes off. the dvr light goes off and the ONE light goes off?

    And then simply saying XBOX ON it turns on then say tv on the tv and dvr turn on?

    TV Turns off when turning xbox on

    Guess you have set up the xbox to turn on the tv and receiver. So it tries to do that when it is turned on (Xbox cannot sense that it is already on).

    Your tv model responds to turn on/off with the same infrared signal. So when it is on, it will turn off and vice versa with the same command. That's not a fault/problem from the xbox but from the tv manufacturer.

    So two options:

    - always turn on the tv by turning on the xbox and turn the tv off by turning the xbox off

    - or do not let the xbox turn on your tv and do that manually
