Xbox not turning on

When I turn on my Xbox 1, I hear the boot up jingle and see the white icon, but after 5 - 6 seconds, the power shuts down. The power brick has a steady orange light on while in standby, when I turn on the console it turns steady white, but again, after 5
- 6 seconds the console shuts down. When I try to turn it on again, I don't even get the beep or the light, but if I wait a few minutes, it comes on again, only to shut down once more. (Yes, I have tried all the trouble shoots).

Is it a faulty power brick, or is it the whole system.

For context, I believe we had a bad lightning storm pass through and it messed our TV up to the point that we had to replace it.

The first step I would suggest is to identify where the problem is. It sounds like it could be either the power supply or the console itself. So if you have a friend with an Xbox you could try using their power supply with your console, or your power supply
with their console.

You should also check the No Power Troubleshooter to make sure you've tried all the solutions for your particular situation.

If it's the power supply then you can just replace it, if it's the console you may want to look at getting it repaired at the below link though if it's out of warranty you may need to pay, otherwise you may have to replace that unfortunately. Service

If you have a friends with an Xbox one I would get them to bring over their power brick and try theirs, that way you know if its just the brick, otherwise you'll have to buy one off Amazon or somewhere to test. Better a power brick than the whole console
though, so its worth the test!

hi, there is always the chance that the thunderstorm took the Xbox out too but

If you're using a surge protector or power extension lead then try connecting the power supply directly to the mains power outlet, it's also worth just letting the power supply sit for a minute with no power to allow it to reset itself.

The good news is that the Xbox One power supply has a built in surge protector, so it does sound like the power supply might need to be replaced and not the console. Before you head down that road though. Check out these guides and see if it helps out.

Hi TEEZYdennis,

Sorry to hear that you are having issues with your Xbox. Is it safe to assume it is an Xbox One?

I suggest a reset of the console via the troubleshooting screen to get you back to a factory reset.

To access the troubleshooting screen use these steps:

Unplug the network cable if you're using a wired network connection.
Power off your console, and then unplug the power cord to ensure that the console is completely powered off.
Wait 30 seconds, and then plug the power cord back in.
Press and hold the BIND button (located on the left side of the console) and the EJECT button (located on the front of the console), and then press theXbox button on the console.
Continue holding the BIND and EJECT buttons for 10-15 seconds.
Listen for two “power-up” tones a couple of seconds apart. You can release the BIND and EJECT buttons after the second power-up tone.

From there you can reset your console.

unfortunately you'll want to consider reaching out to the Online Service Center to explore having your console repaired or replaced. I know it's not ideal, but that is definitely not normal behavior for an

I finally got my hands on a new power box/brick(?) and this was the problem.

It definitely sounds like it could be the Power Supply then. Like I said try to borrow a friends to see if the console works, and if it is the Power Supply I would strongly recommend buying an official one, an unofficial one may be cheap but it may also
damage your console.
