Xbox Not Turning On

When I press the on button on my 4gb slim, the green light turns on but nothing shows up on the TV. I have tried turning it with my controller but the same thing happens and the lights on the controller flash like it's trying to connect to the Xbox. I have
also tried unplugging all the wires and putting them back in.

The first step I would suggest is to identify where the problem is. It sounds like it could be either the power supply or the console itself. So if you have a friend with an Xbox you could try using their power supply with your console, or your power supply
with their console.

You should also check the No Power Troubleshooter to make sure you've tried all the solutions for your particular situation.

If it's the power supply then you can just replace it, if it's the console you may want to look at getting it repaired at the below link though if it's out of warranty you may need to pay, otherwise you may have to replace that unfortunately. Service

Xbox not turning on.

I have to do a hard reset on the xbox one in order to turn on the console with the controller most of the time. (pull the power cord). Most of the time the controller does not turn on the console and acts like it is not paired. Then if I turn on the
console by waving my hand in front same issues they act like they are not paired. Then they will NOT pair doing the normal pairing procedure. The only thing that works is pulling the power. (hard reset) Then the pair stays active and the controller can
wake up the console.

Can you please provide some firmware or software to fix the issue? It is a very consistent problem and I'm using the original controller that it came with the game.

Update: have tried different HDMI wires and the different HDMI ports and it still didn't work. When I took out my HDD it turned on so I think that might be the problem or part of it

Sounds like the issue is actually that you're not getting a signal, not so much that the console isn't receiving power. There is an Xbox 360 "blank screen" guide that's most effective for these types of issues:

Checking your cable is step 2, so since you've already tried another cable, I recommend following that guide for solutions 3-6.

Update 2: So Xbox is still not turning on. My power cable box thing has a very faint screech coming from the inside. The Xbox cooling fan turns on and the disk tray opens and closes fine. I've tried resetting the video setting by holding the power button.
It worked the first time but afterwards it didn't. I really don't know what to do.

Have you tried every single step in that guide I've shared? Did you reset the display settings, check your setup, try a lower resolution or try a different TV?

You mentioned a faint screech. Anything alarming? Is your console in the optimum placement to work properly? You can find more info here:

About the screech it's not very loud you can barely hear it. It doesn't do it when the hard drive is out and I'll try the other things right now.

Hmm, you keep saying it won't turn on, but then what you're describing is that it will turn on, you just aren't seeing a signal on the TV.

Is the actual core of the issue:

A. It won't power on?

or

B. It's not giving you a signal, but it's on?

This could mean something very different for troubleshooting. c

 

Its not giving me a signal but it's on.

 

Gotcha. So removing the external HDD seems to fix this? Can you try plugging your external into another USB port on the console?

Gotcha. If this is only happening with this storage device, it may actually be worth considering trying to move your content to another storage device

Once you've done that, see if with this entirely new storage device if this still happens with your console.
