    Xbox not turning on but making startup sound


    This is the second time that this has happened to me where the Xbox makes the startup sound but the light does not turn on. In order to turn on my Xbox, I have to either unplug it or hold down the power button for 10 sec to shut it down and then it will power up. Also, even though my console has auto-updates enabled, it has me manually update after my console is on. Is this a known issue?

    Hi

    Is the console only making the sound when you switch it on and off?

    If so then you just need to go into the setting to turn this feature off. To turn the feature off press the Xbox Button on the controller then select the System tab / Setting / Power & startup / Power mode & startup and under options on the left you will
    see Statup chime where you can turn this feature off.

    I'm an Xbox Ambassador and I'll try to help out in any way I can. One quick qustion....are you part of the insider program on your console? I ask only because I had this issue a while back with my One X, took it off the Program and everything returned to normal. This also coincided with constantly having the console asking for these random 68MB updates over and over again.

    I might be a part of an insider program. I am not able to turn on my Xbox to go to the home page so I would not be able to do anything.

    However, I have been getting updates the last few times I got it to startup. Is there a way to check on my computer?

    can i turn off the power up sound that comes from the console internal speakers?

    For the startup chime: Settings>Power & Startup>Power mode & startup>Startup chime>Off

    The only thing to do about the menu sounds is turn down your master/tv volume.
