xbox not staying in standby mode over night sometimes

I've had this happen twice and i'm just curious if it's just me or is it because when i turned it off i had nothing running on it? because i know it's not a big deal, but i'm curious if anyone else's did this. I also experienced a few other bugs yesterday
when i turned my xbox off for like 15mins and turned it back on it had a very dim light so i hard reset it and it fixed it. Also i was playing cod and the game restarts itself when i was in the middle of something which was quite annoying. There's just so
many little bugs that start to add up on this console which can really get annoying.

    :)

Xbox not staying in standby mode?

I've had this issue since I bought my xbox one two weeks ago. Im not sure if its a hardware issue.

What happens is, if i leave my game running and turn the xbox off it will stay in instant on mode for as long as i leave it. That is, the light is white on the power brick and it boots right to the home screen.

If i close my game/app before turning it off the xbox will not stay in instant on mode and will turn completely off. That is, orange light on the power brick and boots from the green xbox screen.

Yes, my console is plugged into the wall and is in instant on mode.

    Please help.

    Hey Chief Stefan,

You can try to clear the persistent storage: Go to settings---->Disc and Blue Ray--->Persistent storage, and clear out the persistent storage 3 times

Then do a hard reset: Turn off the console, unplug all the cords connected to the console, hold down the power button for 30 seconds, and then plug in the cords and turn on the console.

    Hope this helps

what exactly do you mean, not staying in standby mode? does it power on? or completely turn off?

Usually if the light is dimmed, it is doing something important, like updating. so give it a few mins and see if it powers on.

Cod Ghosts 'resetting' would be the game crashing. this is a problem with the games code, not the xbox xbox not staying in standby mode over night sometimes :)

by not staying in standby mode overnight i meant when i wake up the light on the power brick is orange which indicates it is not on standby mode and when i turn it on it starts at the green xbox screen. this does not happen often. just curious if it happened
because when i shut my xbox i didnt have any game running on it or what

I think I see the confusion here so let me see if I can clarify a couple things.

With the "Instant-On" power mode setting the system will attempt to update itself and the installed games and apps when you power off the system. When it's updating the light will turn/stay white. When it's not updating or when the system is in standby
mode/off the light will turn orange.

With the symptoms you've described, completely powering off and dim lights on the system, it sounds like the system is having amperage issues, i.e. it's not getting enough power. Based on that I'm guessing you probably have the system plugged into a power
strip or surge protector. If that's the case, power the system down and move the power cord to a wall outlet, preferably one with as little plugged into it as possible.

Let me know if this helps.

no what i was trying to describe were 3 different occuring bugs that happened in the same 24hrs not one after the other.

1: CoD game starts lagging badly then it crashed then reloaded back to the main menu by itself

2: i turned off my system and 15mins later went to go back on and the brightness level of my screen at the xbox home and on games was very low. I checked my pc input and it was not a dim brightness. I hard reset it and it fixed it.

3: i turned my system off for the night and woke up to the xbox not in standby mode and this happened twice to me now, but it's on the rare side. The power brick was orange and my xbox booted from the green xbox loading screen as it would if it were not
    in standby mode.

Just was nervous it could be a hardware issue

Apologies. The way you stated it in the opening comment it sounded like you were referring to the light on the front of the system, "turned it back on it had a very dim light". It would still happen in the event you had the system plugged in to the wrong
outlet either way, but what I stated is best practice either way.

As for the game crashing and rebooting itself, that has been a fairly common problem with some games, CoD being one of the biggest offenders from what I've seen. The maintenance program that runs when you hard reset the system tends to fix that up nicely.

As for the system turning off by itself, and if you have it powered up correctly, it's probably reset because of something that updated requiring the system to do so. The new hardware platform is a Power PC platform, so there are going to be a lot of similarities
between your X1 and your comp. So that could be it as well.

    Hope some of this helps.

I'm having a similar issue. This seems to have started happening for me after the latest system update. I have my Xbox One set to Instant On mode, and have the box ticked for automatically downloading updates. When I power down the machine by touching the
Xbox logo on the console, it enters standby mode as expected. In other words: I can power it back on quickly, and the light on the power brick is white. HOWEVER: when I wake up in the morning, the power brick's light is orange, and I have to do a full boot
    of the system.

I find this happening more frequently since CoD:AW, but it was happening before I started playing the game as well.
