Xbox not showing Wi-Fi options

Please try to perform a physical power cycle by disconnecting the power cable:

"Turn off your console by pressing the Xbox button on the front of the console for about 10 seconds, until it shuts down completely.
Unplug the console's power cable. Wait 10 seconds.

Important Be sure to wait at least 10 seconds. This step resets the power supply.

Plug the console power cable back in.
Press the Xbox button on your console to turn it on."

If you look through your console settings you will find the Wi-Fi options under network if the console is capable of connecting to Wi-Fi.

From dashboard - settings - system - network settings - Wi-Fi

If you do not have these options then the console may be one of the original models with Wi-Fi capability and would require a dongle adaptor.

What is the manufacture date of the console? it will say on the data sticker on the back of the machine

I was under the same impression, how can the hdmi affect the Wi-Fi?? However it works ok with a shorter lead, I even tried using the shorter lead to allow the xbox to connect then swapping the leads over, initial it shows the Wi-Fi connected but then after
a short period it comes up with dns connection error!

I also tried changing the output to 1080p. This seemed to allow the Wi-Fi to connect but again showed DNS error when testing connection!

Is your network on Wi-Fi? Have you added any new wireless devices or things like a microwave in the recent past. All these problems could have many causes from the original Xbox beginning to show its age, to your router beginning to fail, is it just too many things on the Wi-Fi. Xbox wireless accessories work on the same frequencies with as many household Wi-Fi devices

Yeah wi-fi is the most unreliable way to connect your xbox to the internet.

If videos on the dashboard start stuttering you should change the wi-fi channel.

The videos I think you are referring to are more prone to wifi jitter than the videos for rent.

When I used to use wi-fi it used to happen to me a lot. I regularly had to change the wi-fi channel.

If you are using wi-fi and using wired isn't an option due to the distance between router and xbox then consider getting powerline adaptors. They let you send the internet through your powerlines meaning you get a wired connection for your xbox.

Since getting powerline adaptors I've never had problems with stuttering video.
