    Xbox not seeing space on Ext HDD/Game Update issue


    I have a 1TB Ext HDD, did a calculation to see I had only 300gigs of games installed, but it showed only 30gigs left. I have also had game update issues, Rainbow 6 and FH3 both do full reinstalls instead of just the update, Diablo 3 started doing the same.
    I figure that the missing space is connected to this. I had to format the drive and it show now 934 gigs after reinstalling Diablo 3. Its a pain as my internet isn't amazingly fast. Any clues why it is reinstalling the full games?

    Its a standard 500gig Xbox One, Not on preview program.

    External hdd space used up when I plugged it into xbox1x?

    has anyone came across this with their new Xbox one x? My ext hdd had over 200gb free space on my Xbox one s and when I plugged it into the one x all the space on the ext hdd was completely used up. I deleted some game but I still only have 100gb left. Should
    I have formatted my ext before plugging it into the one x?

    i just got an ext hd for xbox one. if I have a game on my int hd that gets a big update will the update dl to my ext hd? or will I have to clear space on my internal hard drive for it.

    Sorry to hear about the issue. This is something that is a known issue and is currently being looked into. You can try moving your games to your internal hard drive (or vice versa) to see if that helps. In the meantime, keep an eye out for any news and info

    After formatting the drive and reinstalling R6 Siege, it asked for an update! but it actually only applied the 900mg patch this time. Makes me wonder if there was a corrupt file on the ext HDD causing the problem. I had to full install FH3 4 times, so it
    almost seems as it was installed 4 times and that may account for the phantom missing space? It also seemed to cause game it be uninstalled, or at least missing from "games to play" Maybe they were still there but the xbox couldn't see them. Anyway, time will
    tell if it does the same thing.

    Game update.

    Is the game installed on your Console HDD or an Ext HDD? I had issues before with games that were originally installed on the console and then moved over to the Ext HDD

    It seems to be the ext hdd the update has a problem with. Do this. Remove ext hdd, you won't be needing it for a few hours. Next reboot then preview app should be under ready to install. If not hold power down for 10 secs and reboot. Try again and install
    a small game everything should install no problem on internal. At this point your xbox should be working normal except you can't use ext hdd, but don't worry about that at some point later today you'll get an update. Then you can plug in hdd and everything

    The massive downloads don't bother me. I have a 2 TB ext. hdd plus the 500gb int. hdd. If anybody is worried about space you could always by a ext. hdd. Now a days they are really cheap. I picked mine up at Best Buy for $90. They are always having sales
    just like any other place.
