Xbox not recognising router/wireless

Hi,

For the last 2 days I have been unable to connect to Xbox live. My router is working etc and no connections have been moved. I have tried to do a network test but every time i click on wired network or wireless network it doesn't give me any options to configure.
It just says 'To use a wired internet connection make sure an ethernet cable is connected to both your console and your router or modem'.

Everything is connected as it was the last time it worked. I have tried putting the cable in a different port.

All my other devices are connected fine.

Can you convert a 360 to be wireless?

We need to move our Xbox to another room and we have a wireless router. Is there anything you can do to make an original Xbox 360 wireless compatible?

Well, the computer--and the wireless router--are in a different room than the XBox. No chance of hooking the XBox to the computer!

 

Hello can you please try turning off your router for 30 seconds take the Ethernet cable out of your xbox, Then after 30 seconds turn it back on. If that dose not work leave a reply and we can try other solutions.

 

if your xbox does not Show wireless at all this sounds like its Adapter is faulty, is it an internal or external Adapter?

Hi prideloss, i don't know about the adapter, I am using an ethernet cable from the router to the xbox

To rule out the possibility of a defective network adapter, try connect your console with a
different Ethernet cable, to make absolutely sure if your console are able to recognize any communication via it's Ethernet port or not.

If it still prompts you with: 'To use a wired internet connection make sure an ethernet cable is connected to both your console and your router or modem', you would need to send the console in to get repaired, if you'd like to make sure of
the Ethernet portion of the console to be working. Otherwise, you can try connect wireless, either internal (Xbox 360 S/E) if available, or using the wireless adapter.

Hi taidara, i did try a different cable but to no avail. I don't really want to have to send it away unless absolutely necessary. Are there any other solution suggestions i could try first?
