    Xbox not recognising my external drive after a patch


    Around 7:39 PM CET my console got patched and after the patch the drive that I was using couldn't be recognised therefore I can't play most of my games because they're uninstalled. When I plug it to my PC it works so it's not the drive's fault most likely.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Maybe your external hard drive is damaged, can you try in a friend console ?

    Thanks for reaching out to us here on the forums with this situation. I understand you're external hard drive is no longer being detected is that correct? Take a look at this helpful support article:

    Troubleshoot external storage detection on Xbox One    . You may also want to possibly get on your PC and reformat the external drive back to blank and see if it will get recognized by the console after that. Give it a try and let us know with a reply how

    An interesting thing happened last night when I was messing around with this.

    My console was already downloading a patch (for Rock Band 4, not that it matters) to the internal storage when I connected the external drive. This time however, the external drive actually stayed connected, rather than disconnecting after a minute, as
    long as the patch was downloading to the internal storage. When the patch finally finished, though, the drive disconnected after a minute as usual.
