Xbox not receiving high download speeds

Hello - My isp is cox communications and I am located in orange County, CA. I run speed tests when I am hard wired on my computer and receive over 300 down. When I hard wire my Xbox using the same ethernet cable I sometimes don't receive more than
20 download speed.

I understand that there are times of the day where my speeds may be throttled due to activity in my neighborhood, but the drop off in speed between my computer and Xbox is alarming.

Are you using WiFi connection or wired connection to connect to Xbox Live?

Basically your download speed depends on your internet download speed.

It your internet is not a High Speed Internet service, it may take some time to finish your download. If you have a High Speed Internet, try using wired connection.

 

0Mbps download speed

we are having all sorts of problems downloading games or watching tv on demand through our console these last few days. System consistently says 0Mbps download speed, when our modem is receiving around 20Mbps. We have since connected Xbox to the modem
via an Ethernet cable and allocated it to the dmz on our router. Still no download speed. Frustration levels are very high right now! Any advice anyone??

 

Unfortunately everyone is in the same boat. Downloading from the Microsoft servers seems to be slower on your Xbox than if you download software from a different place.

 

Hello! This problem is usually quite simple, if you're xbox seems to be downloading at slower then normal speeds try unplugging and reseting you're router or modem for 30 seconds. Then plug it back in. And also try to place the WiFi router and or modem in
an area that isnt blocked or conjested. This helps the xbox receive a stronger signal strength. We hope this helps! Thanks for contacting support!

Try disable instant on..do a fresh boot..where you see green boot screen.... and then do test. Again might not be issue here but worth a test.

 

Your xbox will have slow downloading speeds if someone is streaming something on the same network. Make sure no-one is watching Netflix or something and your speeds will be much faster.
