    Xbox not playing blue ray DVD graphics


    I put in my blue ray disc in my Xbox one and the sound plays, but the graphics do not show up. There is a black screen with sound playing. I have tried re-installing the blue ray player app and restarting the Xbox but I still have the same problem. How do
    I fix this?

    DVD playback quality is still atrocious.

    No I would expect a blu ray player to play DVDs as good as a standalone DVD player. Blu Ray players don't magically improve DVDs. The problem would appear to be that the One blu Ray player doesn't perform well when playing DVDs in comparison to other
    Blu Ray players.

    Xbox One will play Blu-ray movies but not DVD movies

    My Xbox One has a problem where it will not play any DVDs I own but has no problem playing the Blu-rays. The error is to please insert a valid Blu-ray or DVD but my DVD is valid. Please help.

    Did anyone help you with this? I have the same problem on my One S: I have followed xbox support to remove 24hzin advanced settings and run every logical combination I can create in the advanced settings area. I am using the cable supplied with the One S.
    Tried 1080, 720 and 4k, nothing works. I get the menu graphics in DVD / Blu Ray and sound works fine, but no video content.

    Bruce-no, no one helped me with this problem and I couldn't find any support to fix it. Looks like we have the same problem. I ended up just giving up on it because I could not find a way to fix it

    yes the Xbox one comes with blue-ray built in. and will play blue-rays and regular dvd's.

    Having same issue with these discs. It seems xbox one does not like Peter Jackson. I have the Hobbit on blue ray and I have to insert and eject it 2 or 3 times to get it to play. Have this issue with other dvd/blue rays aswell but as for the extended edition
    lord of the rings dvd's it will not play any of them at all.
