    Xbox not installing updates for games


    I haven’t been on my Xbox in a week or 2. I hopped on today to find 3 games needed updates and would not update. They were seemingly stuck. You could pause and resume updating but nothing would happen. It wouldn’t start loading or anything. I googled various fixes, tried them all and nothing worked. I tried switching to a wireless connection to my internet and nothing. I then stumbled upon a fix that claimed if you were using a wireless connection to disconnect, connect to a mobile hotspot and see if it would download then. I use a wired connection but figured I’d try it anyway. I disconnected my hard wire connection, connected to my mobile hotspot on my phone and wouldn’t you know it did work.

    Obviously I can’t use the hotspot all the time so I disconnected and reconnected the hardwire and that started working too? Once I downloaded the update for one game it wouldn’t download the update for the 2nd…. So I disconnected the hardwire again, this time instead of using the hotspot I simply reconnected the hardwire again and it worked to finish downloading my updates.

    What is going on and how can I eliminate this problem?

    Hello!

    1- Try to reset the xbox and see if so when you start update the status of the game

    2- Go to manage game data and check that it is installed or pending installation.

    3- Uninstall the game and restart the xbox

    4-Install the games and then install all the updates, be careful not to install any updates before the game.

    Just did 2 Clean installs of Windows 10 1909.

    The first install i did all windows updates/Driver updates then installed xbox pc beta game pass then installed 2 games and then attempted to install dragon center from MSI. it installed and then failed to run with the same errors i was getting before.

    The second install i installed driver updates and then installed Dragon Center. Configured the system with Dragon Center. Then installed all windows updates, Xbox pc beta game pass and then installed a game and played. Dragon center still worked after playing
    the game. once i restarted the computer dragon center was broken with the same errors as before. Something is breaking the program in the xbox pc game pass install.

    The most common problem is updates. Make sure to decline any updates as it is installing. For some reason, allowing the updates to install while the game is installing causes issues. You can always queue the updates after the base game is installed.

    Hi, that's usually what happens when you download an update. Most of the time updates install over the files that need updating. It's not like the xbox 360 where an update is installed and adds to the file size. With Xbox One games, updates are installed
    over files that are needed to be updated. hence why the file size has not changed.

    what i did was to un-install the game turn off xbox, re insert disc, re-install but this time when it tells you there is an update available for the game hit No and dont install the update until after the disc is fully installed.
