Xbox not detected by TV (Was previously working)

HI my xbox was previously working and when I switched it on the other day my TV no longer recognised it.

I unplugged the hdmi cable from the xbox and plugged it in to another device and this was detected and worked fine.

Is this likely to be a faulty hdmi out on my xbox? Is there anything else I can do?

    Thanks,

    M.

    :)

Xbox stops sending audio to stereo after I turn off TV

Hi Xbox not detected by TV (Was previously working) :).

I also stream music to my XBO, using "Cast" from my PC, and if I turn my TV off, the music still plays. I'd suggest it's something that Apple TV is set to do by default, but I've never used Apple TV, so not certain.

Have you checked settings in Apple TV? Some HDMI controls can be set to deactivate sound if no HDMI output device is detected, and this probably would be detected even if the Xbox is on, but the TV isn't ;-).

    Kind regards.

    DJM.

XBox One Console Not Detected by TV / Blank Screen

    To anyone who can help,

My XBox One has been on standby for about a week, when I turn on the XBox One the TV doesn't detect a signal whereas it did before. I have tried the following:

    • Plug a different HDMI device into the HDMI port that the XBox One was using in the same TV using the same HDMI cable and this other HDMI device works fine
    • Tried plugging the XBox One using the said HDMI cable into a different HDMI port on said TV and still nothing comes up on the screen
    • Tried power cycling the console by unplugging power for a minute, then switching back on, still nothing on screen
    • Tried power cycling the console, holding the eject button and xbox icon button - the console powers on with no 'bleep' and still nothing on screen
    • Tried power cycling the console, then powering on the console using an official wireless xbox one controller by holding the xbox icon on the controller. Console powers on but still nothing on screen
    • Tried power cycling the console, then powering on the console using the PowerA wired mini xbox one controller by holding the xbox icon on the controller. Console powers on by still nothing on screen
    • Tried downloading the factory reset folder from xbox website onto a freshly formatted 8GB NTFS USB drive, plugging the USB drive into the console, power cycling the console, powering on the console by holding the BIND then EJECT buttons (Restore to Factory Defaults | Xbox One)
etc., no bleeps from the console and still nothing on screen
    Other things to note

    • The console is out of warranty
    • The console was bought in the UK and is being used in the UK with a UK TV
    • I can hear sounds like the HDD is engaing and disengaging multiple times during startup
    • There is no disc in the drive
    • It's as if the TV isn't detecting the console (i.e. no screen or sound), but TV has been tested and in full working order
    • The console was set to use HDMI when it used to work
Let me know if other info are required and I look forward to potential solutions!

Hi, you can try a couple of things, just to confirm that it is either the TV (I know you said the TV works with other devices) or the cable or of course a faulty Xbox.

Try connecting the Xbox to a different hdmi socket on the TV if you can. if that doesn't work, then try connecting to a different TV. If that doesn't work, try a different hdmi cable. If that still does not work, then the console will be faulty, and will
need to be booked in for repair.

    Try the following:

First of all, make sure the HDMI cable is in the HDMI OUT port of the Xbox One, not the HDMI IN port.

If the cable is in the correct port, eject any disc, and then hold the power button on the console for about 10 seconds.

After the console has shut down, hold eject and power to turn the console on. The console will beep one time as soon as you press the power button.

Keep holding Eject and Power until the console beeps a second time.

That will cause the console to boot into a recovery resolution, which should display an image.

If the console doesn't provide an image after doing this, I suspect that the console is defective. You might try to install a recovery image to the console via an USB drive and the OSUDT (Offline Soystem Update Diagnostic Tool). But if that doesn't work
either, sign it up for a repair at

If the console does show a low resolution image after you do the "Eject+Power" method, simply go to the settings under Display & Sound, and set the console to a proper resolution again.

    Its there but it isn't

To clarify, did you previously set up a cable box with your Xbox One? I was under the impression your Xbox One was not detecting your TV.

Xbox turns tv off then immediately back on.

I was having a similar issue with my Samsung tv and I just reset the tv setup and got the Xbox One to auto detect model of tv and it has worked from then on.

    Xbox 360 Elite display issue.

Yep. I set the console to 720p using the TV that works, and then tried it on the TV that doesn't. Now the TV detects the Xbox properly, but displays a black screen. The second TV that I tried it on is a plasma one.
