xbox not accepting new password

I've changed my password as a result of possible hacks recently. I'm now signed onto xbox.com. However, when my xbox asked for my new account details it's saying that my email/password is wrong. I've faithfully used the correct password; I've changed
the password again, if that was a problem. And still not accepting the details. Getting a touch annoyed.

Xbox not accepting my password

use the forget my password option under the login screen at this site

first sign out then click sign in

then you will be asked for the windows live id and password

underneath that is forgot my password

actually i am using a gmail account for that other account but i can't remember if i had to make up a new password or stay but i must have had to have another password for the account that i forgot

Dear Microsoft, Don't bother. Not that you were bothered of course because you didn't get back to me. So it turns out that with two step verification, xbox devices have some problems with the password. I started to follow your instructions and gave up
at the first hurdle when your instructions didn't match the click headers on your own site - I just couldn't be bothered with the faff. I turned off two-step verification and it works fine. Why are Microsoft so useless?

I changed my SSID and password, and the Xbox One wouldn't accept the new SSID and password until I cleared MAC address and rebooted the Xbox One.

Computer: puts me back to "I accept the new terms" page

no I do not need a new password. the problem is that when I accept the terms of use on my xbox it says invalid password but I enter the correct password. but when I do it on xbox.com then when I type the correct password. then I come back to the terms of
use again
