    I have just got my xbox one (for xmas) finally got it all set up inserted game disc and found it makes a horrible noise that comes and goes, is this normal? I can't imagine watching a dvd with this noise going on in the background. As a newbie to xbox I'm
    not sure what to expect but I'm pretty sure the noise should not be something I should get with expensive kit like this. I'm starting to wish I hadn't bought it on the web now its going to be a whole bunch of hassle sending it back if that's what I'm going
    to have to do. Please advise someone, happy new year.

    Xbox ONE vs S Noise

    I think the original Xbox was the loudest console I owned. Even then, I never minded the noise, really. What kind of noise are you guys talking about? Fans, disc drive, or general clicky noises from the hard drive?

    Xbox E 360 DVD Drive noise

    Yes some DVD drives are like that, and is perfectly normal, if you want to cut down the noise, then if you have a xbox 360 hard drive installed, you can install the games and that will help cut down the noise, as the game will play from the hard drive instead
    of the disc.(You will still need the disc in the drive to play though).

    Depends what noise it is you are talking about.

    The Xbox One will make more noise while installing from a BluRay as it is spinning the disc at high speed to install the game.

    Once installed, the game runs from the HDD and the disc is used for security authentication at boot up. That is why it is quiet when playing games.

    So if the noise was a loud whirring, then that is normal during install. If it was anything else like grinding noise, that isn't normal.

    Oh no, definitely not. Sounds like a standard player when its reading the disc. PS3 made the same noise at times.

    It's normal unfortunately 4k uhd discs have to spin faster than normal blu ray so the noise is the disc drive most of the 4k uhd blu ray players have a similar problem it's infuriating during quite scenes.

    You can either put your xbox in a cabinet to reduce the noise or I bought a pioneer udp lx 500 as the disc drives are soundproofed but there hefty and there not cheap but they do have a noticeably better picture than the xbox one x.

    This did not work. I saw on another post if you hang on to the disc a brief second before the automatic ingest takes the disc that it would trigger the player. This seems to be working. I did hear the player make a noise the last time we tried powering
    on the unit. Is this a sign the player is failing?

    CD Drive Noise?

    You'll never have a 100% silent disc drive when it is reading data from the disc. As long as it is still reading/detecting the disc fine and not a loud grinding noise, I wouldn't worry about it.

    Hmm, a clicking noise...could be the hard drive.
