  1. Xbox Network Wifi Device Defective

A year ago I got my Halo 5: Guardians Xbox One, since then I've used it almost the entire year. Recently I've started to have networking problems, it would disconnect from Xbox Live, or just plain not work sometimes. Now it's just completely given up on
trying, it says that there's a wired connection connected, although it's never been wired in the entire time that I've had it. It won't even detect my router when I try to connect to it. I don't have problems on any of my other devices, from my gaming PC
to my cell phone, I have a good internet connection.(100 Download, 50 Upload)

I've factory reset my Xbox as well, and once I tried to connect through WiFi it told me that the onboard internet controller is defective and needs to be sent in for repairs.

    Hopefully you can help,

    Xbox Network Wifi Device Defective

If the console detects the network hardware as defective, try to hard reset the console by holding the power button on the console for about 15 seconds. Then unplug the power cord, and wait about 30 seconds.

Plug the power cord back in the wall outlet and start the console.

If the problem persists, you'll have to sign up your console for repairs at https://devicesupport.microsoft.com

Trouble with connecting to my wifi and NAT problems

I've never port forwarded and don't believe in it! Just learn to static IP your network devices and leave the Xbox (or Xbox's) auto.

Wifi devices are ruling networks...from wifi smart phones, tablets, laptops, TVs and whatever...they will ALWAYS have network priority and take away from your Xbox. So if your Xbox is Wifi then this is a must!

There is an App (fancy that) called FING that I use. It looks at all your network devices and although you can't correct things, it does show clashing devices. Because devices go to sleep yet hold their IP address' and clog up the network.

FYI - I have 4 xbox throughout the house (all auto and open) and numerous wifi devices that I static IP...I even static my PC, just to be safe :)

How to stop a device from casting to the XBOX One X on a wifi network in 2023 ?

Hello, I'm Felipe and I'm an independent Community Advisor, and I'll do my best to help you.

If the settings or preferences options that were previously described are not available on your XBOX One X console, there are other ways you can try to stop a device from casting to it on a wifi network.

One option is to change your wifi network settings to prevent the device from connecting to the network altogether. Another option is to disable casting on the device itself, if possible.

To change your wifi network settings, you can access your router's admin page and block the MAC address of the device you want to stop from casting. This will prevent the device from connecting to the wifi network and thus prevent it from casting to the XBOX One X console.

To disable casting on the device, you can check the settings or preferences options of the device itself. If there is an option to disable casting, you can select it and the device will no longer be able to cast to any device on the wifi network, including the XBOX One X console.

If neither of these options works, you may need to consult the user manual or contact customer support for the device or the XBOX One X console for further assistance.

    Hello Alex,

Thank you for posting on the Xbox forums. We understand that you are attempting to connect to the 5GHz WiFi network, but it is not appearing in your list of available networks. The 2.4GHz WiFi network is meant to optimize the speed for devices that
are farther away from the router/gateway. The 5GHz WiFi network is meant to optimize the speed for devices that are closer to the router/gateway. We suggest moving the console closer to the router/gateway. Be sure to let us know if the 5GHz WiFi network appears
on your available list after moving it closer.
