Xbox needs internet for offline disc?

I was playing RDR2 Single Player fine one moment then the next it tells me to connect to the internet. I lost wifi for some reason which normally isn't a problem. For over a year I've played RDR2 Single Player while completely offline from the internet before and it worked fine. Now suddenly when I was connected to the wifi and lost connection, it wont let me play the game again. It keeps saying it requires internet to play, but it didn't before? It's a disc copy. Fully downloaded on the hard drive. It's also set as my home xbox and the same xbox I downloaded the game onto. I've played without being connected to the internet before, why does it need it now?

If it's just the single-player mode internet connection is not required. Kindly make sure that your console is set to offline then try again.

Settings > General > Network Settings > Go Offline.

Hi, I am Bella. You dont need internet to download a disc base game. You only need internet if your downloading it from the Xbox Store. A fast internet is not needed but helps, if I'm following correctly, the problem is that when you install from the disc, the Xbox will first download any patches needed before installing the game, if you have a slow internet connection it is best to install
the disc offline, then go online and it'll download the updates.

I believe that games you bought digitally/gamepass games require internet had the same issue when my internet went offline it said everytime that i needed internet connection to play the game or insert a disc so i believe you can only play offline if you
have the disc version of the game

I've bought a Xbox 360 Game by disc or as digital version and I know you need internet to download the Xbox 360 Games (even you've got the disc).

Still I don't get it why there is a xbox feature which you can play OFFLINE Games and save games locally if you need to be online at first place?

If I buy something as disc or digital and try to download a xbox game it should be checked or already known that I've got the "licence" to play that game.

For my point of view it doesn't make any sense that you need "permanently" internet connection to play Xbox 360/One "Offline Games" and save the game progress for "licence reasons".

In Xbox 360 it has never asked me for internet question before I can start/play an offline game (disc or digital version).
