    Anyone know how to change the name it had given me?!

    I have been looking at this as for some reason, my GamerTag is my real name

    It would appear that the only place you can change your GamerTag is on the XBOX itself however there is the small matter that Microsoft also want the best part of £7 for the privilege!!!

    Anyone know how to change the name it had given me?!

    Set everything up but the name I'm using is my daughters (must have passed over from previous Xbox) during set up, the console asked for my name, I entered it but it still shows as my daughters name? Everything else had pulled across fine (gamertag etc)

    Are you looking to add your name so your console will say "Hi Joe" (for example) when you log in?

    If so, go to account.microsoft.com and select Edit Name (on the left).

    As there are tricks website that are designed to steal your account info with misleading info on how to change your name or YouTube fake videos that get paid per click

    It's what we call social engineeing

    One example 7 deadly sins which has since closed the thread and locked it as a fake info

    If you want to change the tag, you will have to pay to change it. There is no way around that and no one here can change it for you.

    then thank you for answering but as i wrote english is not my first langague so maybe "trick" is a too strong word.

    and concerning my son maybe you're right but i misunderstand too : cos again i can understand that people aren't allowed to change easily gamertag as they'd like to, BUT the first time you choose your name shouldn't count as the free gamertag change since
    the application gives you one you didn't choose first, that was all my point !

    i didn't claim anything i'm aware i'm no one to big companies like Microsoft , i was just asking if it was possible.

    i know you can't discuss with a wall or an ambassador, but it was worth trying ! ;p
