XBOX Muting Itself

I had an XBOX 1S. It worked perfectly for about a year. Then the xbox stopped recognizing that a headset was plugged into the controller. I have tried updating the controller, buying a new controller, and buying a new headset. Nothing has working. The microphone
mute icon continued to appear on the home screen in the upper right hand corner. I called the xbox customer service . They wanted $180 to unmute the console.

I decided to upgrade to an xbox 1X. It worked perfectly, headset and everything. Great machine. Then after two weeks while my son was playing it, the xbox stopped recognizing the headset, again. I find it extremely odd that two of my consoles stopped recognizing
headsets, but nonetheless they both have. No privacy settings were changed on either console. My account is not a banned one.

Two Questions:

1) Is there a new workaround for this problem?

2) I have read that this "self-muting" is an ongoing problem that Microsoft has been unable to fix. Is there any truth to this? I am just about done with this console.

Hi, some times when the Service of the Xbox Live have insues (like we having right now) the Party and Chat serveces stop working too

Maybe you having now is about the insues try http://support.xbox.com

Try check later if the problem continue

Have you tried muting yourself. In the party in the app itself there is an option to mute yourself. Hope that helps!

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's not a headset issue. I replaced my M80 mixamp (Astro) with a brand new one and nothing changed. The headset itself can't mute others, only the console has the ability to do that, and there's no way to tell the headset to tell
the console to mute the party. It has to be an issue with the xbox itself.

Headset or audio out sound level? I believe if youre trying to mute the microphone that needs to be done on the headset itself and not in the Xbox settings.

They may have manually muted it through Xbox itself.. there's an option for it at settings > audio. you have the option to mute the mic there..

I also recall someone telling me they have to have the people added as a friend to talk to them? idk if that's true
