Xbox Music Pass Prepaid Subscription Expired?

I recently learned that Xbox Music Pass has been discontinued.

I have multiple 12 month subscription codes ($99 value) that were never redeemed.

I was never directly notified, but through my own research I discovered that Microsoft was issuing Microsoft store credit (120% of original value) in exchange for Xbox Music Pass prepaid subscription cards. However, this offer apparently ended just a few
days ago, on December 31st, 2018.

I reached out to customer service in attempt to reach an amicable solution, and the customer service representative over the phone informed me that the issue would be escalated to an investigation team and that I would be contacted via email. That was 10
days ago.

I find it troubling that the most valuable company in the world is going to such lengths to avoid honoring a purchase from a long time customer.

The prepaid subscription codes have no expiration dates on them and Microsoft is still in business - there is no reason that the redemption codes that i purchased cannot be honored in some other form by Microsoft.

How would you all feel if something like this happened to you?

The bottom line is that i should not have to "hope" for a goodwill gesture from customer service. I made a purchase from Microsoft for a prepaid card that did not have an expiration date at the time of purchase - as long as Microsoft is in business, my redemption
codes should be honored.

Oh, and you better believe that Microsoft staff monitor these forums.

Unfortunately this is a community forum and it will not enhance your chances of a refund. Your only option is to contact support and hope for a good will gesture.

Njal has a point - it was a year to claim the credit for the goods you had purchased which is more than reasonable in most people's estimation. It's not uncommon for gift cards or prepaid cards to have an expiry date on them, for example if I walk into
one well known retailer here in the UK and purchase a code, I have 12 months to redeem it or the code becomes invalid as that is standard practice in the market. It's not Microsoft's job to ensure you read any and all communications around subject matters,
they can put the notice out there (and as a non-service user I saw it!) and it's up to you to read, acknowledge & understand.

If there were mitigating factors there may be a better hope, but in reality they gave long enough for anyone to take advantage of their offer.
