Xbox Music on Windows 8 Getting Stuck/Restarting when Attempting to Sign-In

Recently, sometime in the last week or two, the Xbox Music app has started to have issues with signing in to my account as soon as I open up the app. Usually I can click around into my music collection and get some music playing that exists on my hard drive,
but as soon as that app tries to sign in (signified by the animated "Signing In" icon that appears in the top-right corner of the screen) within moments it freezes and either instantly shows the orange-colored full-screen image with headphones and tries to
restart, or it just sits there doing nothing and letting me click on nothing. Often it will even kick me out to desktop or another app and seem to restart itself in the background. When I attempt to click on the open window or app tile again, it just does
the same thing.

I attempted to open the charms panel to access the settings and check the account, to see if perhaps there is a sign-in issue. But attempting to access that forces the Signing In procedure, which causes the same freeze/kick/reboot sort of scenario. I'm uncertain
how to fix it. Uninstalling and reinstalling the app from the Store doesn't seem to correct the issue, either.

Can't even sign into My Microsoft account on Xbox.com

Ads with Xbox Music on Windows 8

Hi everyone,

Sorry if I'm not grasping what Xbox Music is all about, but on Windows 8 I'm simply using the app to play music that's already on my PC but I'm getting advertisements. I'm not interesting in streaming music, I just want to use the app as a music player.
Are ads just something I'm going to have to live with if I use Xbox Music on Windows 8? It just doesn't seem like I should be getting ads playing music I already own.

I have seen this issue posted before. Once before. Can you sign in using the
Web Based Player?

Have you previously had an update for the application?

If so, when was the last update?

I will also see if I can dig for more information in regards to this issue.

I don't remember when the last update was, but since I uninstalled and reinstalled the app, I assume it was the latest update of the software. After signing into the web-based player you linked to, I was then able to open the regular desktop app again and
it seems to be working properly now, though. So that seems like a good way to fix the issue or bypass whatever was causing the problem. Thank you!
