Xbox Music - New songs in SD don't show in the "All music" list

    Hello you all!

I have some songs on my phone (Lumia 820 -Using the WP8 system), all downloaded straight to the SD card.

And it happens that some songs aren't listed in the "All music" list from my collection in the "song section". As weird as it can be they do show up in the "Album section" when listing "All music", but in the "Songs section" they only show up if i select only
the music from my "SD card".

Bug? Is there a fix or workaround?

    :)

Windows 8 Xbox Music app won't recognize library-mounted music on an external device.

Same issue here on a Surface Pro. I have all my music on an SD card and have added it to the Music Library, but the Xbox Music App is not showing these songs in "my music".

Unable to re-download music from Music Pass to SD Card

I have XBOX Music Pass on my Lumia 822. I downloaded some music from Music Pass onto my Micro SD Card. This card became corrupted and had to be replaced. When the card was replaced, I attempted to replace the music but it says 'In Collection.' Anyway around
this so I can re-download songs back onto my new Micro SD Card?

Deleting and downloading again the same song solved the bug.

G'day Alex! Just to make sure I understand: You have some songs on your phone that will show up if you sort your music collection in one way, but when sorting your music another way they don't show up among your whole collection?

There are a couple of things I think you can try.

    • If you have not played any of those songs yet, play one and see if it populates in your "All Music" list after.
    • If you're able, re-download the affected music.
    • Add the music to a playlist.
What else have you tried so far? Let us know!

Hello there! Thanks for the help!

That's exactly what's happening. New songs are only showing up if a filter the collection to show what's on my SD card. If I sort the collection to show "All music" it doesn't show the new songs.

I'm saying new songs 'cause it shows correctly everything download before the 8.1 update and the update on the Music app (where the xbox music store is connected straight through the music app and not by the Windows App Store anymore).

What I've tried out so far:

. playing the songs and wait for a while to populate the system: didn't worked

. add songs to playlists: didn't worked

What solved the issue in a really annoying way:

. downloading a song, deleting it and downloading it again.

So I'm pretty much downloading everything twice.

    Any other ideas?

It may be the 8.1 update doing something funny on your phone.

Under Storage Sense, have you got the setting saying that new music should be saved to phone or SD card? It sounds like it may say phone, so when you put music on the SD card yourself it's not properly recognising it, and when you download again it puts
it on the phone? Just a possibility. Try changing that setting.

If not, re-downloading (as much a pain as it is), sounds like it's working for you, and it may just be something weird going on with the new 8.1 update, which is still only in preview.

Xbox Music - New songs in SD don't show in the "All music" list

Hello Maxen13, thank you for the reply!

I think it is indeed something to do with the update.

The setup is to save it to the SD, yes. So that's not the case.

I have noticed that downloading and entire album adds the artist to the "All Music" list right away, but the bug does occur when downloading single songs by a new artist (there is no bug when downloading a new song from a already populated artist in the
    list).

So, as it may be something related to the still under development update, there is not much to do.

Anyways, as it is a bug, I think this should be reported to Microsoft team, right? How do I do that?

OK, that sounds like an oddity with the update. I'm not 100% about that.

What if you restart the device after downloading? Does it populate correctly in that instance?

Otherwise your workaround of re-downloading seems to be working for now so is a good thing to continue doing while a better fix is found.

As for reporting the issue, you can do that here:
    social.msdn.microsoft.com/.../home

Note: you should search for similar issues first before posting your own.

Why is the Xbox Music app re-downloading all my music?

Hey all, I think I've come across a solution - please take a look and see if this works for you too. Short answer - I think you need to wait until Xbox music has fully indexed all existing files on your hard drive before you allow it to start downloading
items from your music. So don't check it until the app has had a lot of time to process your local music.

    Details below.

I've already experienced this problem, so I had an 'Xbox Music' folder full of duplicates. Here's what I did:

    1. Turned off 'Music Pass downloads' and 'When I add songs to my music on other devices, add them here too'. This stopped the rampant download queue.
    2. Uninstalled the Xbox Music app
    3. Deleted the Xbox Music Folder
    4. Re-installed the Xbox Music app
    5. IMMEDIATELY turned off 'Music Pass Downloads' and 'When I add songs to my music on other devices, add them here too'. Nothing started downloading.

Xbox Music first grabbed all the music metadata, listing all my songs and putting the satellite icon beside them (streaming only). Now, it's gradually finding the actual physical files, and I'm gradually getting cloud icons beside each song (meaning Matched
    - available in the cloud and for streaming to other devices). No downloads are happening.

Sidenote - on my new Lumia phone, when I check Xbox music, I find all songs from my PC, available for streaming. This makes me think that Xbox Music is indeed finding all my song data.

I will try turning on the 'Download' features after all my music has those cloud icons. Hopefully it will work as intended and will not download duplicates.

Let me know if anyone else tries this, and what happens. Thanks!
