XBox Music app on Surface 2 and Windows RT 8.1

Hi, I'm sorry to post my problem on this forum, but I have not found a forum for Windows Surface (Tablet or Windows 8 Apps).

The problem is when I play music with Xbox Music app on my Surface 2 (Windows RT 8.1 fully updated), after some times, xbox music stop playing. Here the information:

    • Music are on my SD Card (locally to the surface)
    • The surface is on battery
    • The surface is connected to wifi
    • Xbox Music is open and connected to xbox music
    • I play only music from my library (locally)
After some times, the surface go to sleep. After some times, xbox music stop playing and display an error. The error is 0xc00d11cd (0x80004005). I need to close the app and reopen it to start playing my music locally, but if I play streamed content not
from my library, it's play!!!! Very strange

I have test to open xbox music when the WIFI are disabled and I never have this problem. But I would not disable WIFI to play my music locally.

What is the problem ? I think that the surface in sleep mode lost wifi and when Xbox music lost connection to my account, it's stop playing. When I resume the surface, the xbox music do no reconnect, I need to close the app and reopen again.

    Steve

    :)

Thanks for reporting the update. It looks like the issue is also solved on my Windows 8.1 laptop and on my Surface RT. Looks like it was a Windows 8.1 app compatibility issue after all.

XBox Music app on Surface 2 and Windows RT 8.1

    Hi,

this problem sounds it is not caused by the xbox Music service.

I know, there have been some problems with the firmware update which causes errors like it goes to sleep etc.

for further help, you can use the official Surface forum.

    Hi CaliberSRT,

0xc00d11cd (0x80004005) is a generic DRM error. There are a few things which can cause this. First let's look at a few causes. Did you get these songs from a market known to sell or lease DRM-encoded content? If so make sure that the DRM profile for the
content is compatible with the Music app on your PC. Secondly, do you have this content "Matched" to your cloud collection? If so, you may be reaching the maximum amount of available streaming for your account if you do not have a Music Pass.

STEPS TO TRY: Go to music.xbox.com and make sure these songs aren't listed in your cloud collection. Test it on another PC to see if the issue persists on there. Does the problem happen in Windows Media Player? Uninstall the Music app, hit Windows + R, type
"%temp%", hit enter and then delete all the files in the folder that opens, you can skip any that give errors, afterward reinstall the app. Click the "Upgrade" button here

    drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/.../indivit.asp
. Try switching to a "Local Account" in Windows 8 or simply sign out of your account in the Music app and see if the issue persists. Try a new user profile on your PC, does the problem occur in the new user?

Please report your success or failure for any of these steps. Thanks!

How do I add entire genre to now playing in Xbox Music?

I've just realised I misread the last part of your post, I thought this was Windows Phone and that the difference between our experiences was because I am running the WP8.1 Preview.

I will need to find a way to check this on Windows 8 (Surface) as apparently there seems to be a difference. Which version of Windows 8 are you running? Windows 8 Pro or RT? (ie, is it a Surface RT, Surface Pro, Surface 2 or Surface Pro 2?) Have you updated
to Windows 8.1 Update 1? If not, you can do this as a free update via the Windows Store.

If you have an available update, you should do that and check in Xbox Music again to see if this feature is enabled.
