Xbox 'Microtransactions' One

Discus and support Xbox 'Microtransactions' One in XBoX on Consoles to solve the problem; I agree with you 100% Pinbot. The App Store approach that MS has taken towards some of it's releases is frankly insulting. Anyone trying to defend it... Discussion in 'XBoX on Consoles' started by Azrael008uk, Feb 20, 2014.

I agree with you 100% Pinbot.

The App Store approach that MS has taken towards some of it's releases is frankly insulting.

Anyone trying to defend it either doesn't know better and are just repeating the tripe that Publishers have been trying to groom people to swallow on gaming sites (and getting away with it because as the advertisers they are the main source of revenue for
these sites) or they do know better and are just playing the radical non-conformist to try and get a rise out of people on the internet.

I love extra content that adds to my game.

But games like "Killer Instinct" are simply spoiled by this greedy self serving approach.

    Az

    :)

    Thanks Az,

it's not good for relationships between MS and their customers.

Plus, whilst the developers may want it in their games, MS could say that it is not an option on the XB1.

    But they don't.

As an older gamer, I have never had to see such nickel and diming in the 30 years I have been gaming.

You say MS could say "No Microtransactions" but isn't that just as bad for business for them? Developers may stray away from the platform if MS starts restricting too much. Also keep in mind, PS4 has microtransactions too. Again, stop blaming MS when its
prominent in so many games these days. Sony is just as much to "blame".

  6. You don't have to buy them though, so it's hardly impactful.

  7. Depends on how you look at it. Personally I only play with two characters in the game, so only needed to pay for the two characters to get a good amount of fun out of it. Overall the game has cost me £6, minus characters I would never play.

It's essentially a demo with multiple ways to pay to enjoy it, including buying the full game and having everything at a price that's cheaper than most current regular games.

It was worse in the Windows 8 version of Halo Spartan Assault. I also think Ryse is a bit sneaky in the sense that it gives you the impression you have to pay for stuff when you don't. That was my initial impression anyway when I first went onto the multiplayer.

I haven't spent a cent besides the game itself in regards to Forza 5 and I find it complete except for lack of tracks which they just added( Road America )for free. I'm not interested in paying for extra cars which are mostly slow classics anyway. The amount
of cars given for free is plenty to enjoy and play the game. If people want extra cars than pay up and enjoy.

  9. I haven't seen any microtransactions on my PS4, so no, Sony isn't the same.

Gran Turismo 6 on PS3 yes, but it is very obvious which of the two next gen consoles is working microtransactions into their games.

I love Xbox, but I hate to see the blind defending of a multi-million dollar company by the heroes on this forum. I love my Xboxes, but I refuse to defend practices that are negative for the fantastic world of gaming.

  10. Half of those games mentioned I would not call micro transaction. Simply pay to win. If you buy credits when you can earn them your not gaining much, IMO a micro transaction consists of buying in game clothes weapons armor ect ect...

And like others said, do not buy them then.

  11. Honestly, if I was a game developer I would try and milk as much money possible from the customers, because although people complain about micro-transactions they still buy it. Luckily for you I'm not a dev. Speak with your wallets
    people.

  12. Defending practices that harmful to gaming? DLC can refresh games and extend their lives. New maps and campaigns can give a game a near new feel if done right.

I like having the choice of paying for extra stuff to get an advantage or get something faster. When I play Fifa I along with millions have paid for packs to potentially get good players. Ea are making an absolute fortune from ultimate team due to this.
The transactions give you a choice so the best thing is if you don't want them you don't have have to pay for them. Some people will some won't.

  14. How can I get sick of something that I do not see?

They are options you have. If you are seeing them then that means you're purposely looking for them. And if having options is something that bugs you, then you have issues.

  15. I hate to say it, but no, microtransactions won't chase people away. That's why microtransactions have gotten so popular, they sadly work Xbox 'Microtransactions' One :(. Even if they chase some people away, there are enough whales (people who spend a lot of money through microtransactions)
they make it worth it to the developer/publisher to put in.

I don't even care they make the game more expensive, I care because it encourages developers to make the game aimed towards making gameplay drag on too long if you don't pay and ruins gameplay (just enough to make it feel like a grind but not enough to make
    it totally suck).

I probably wouldn't have a problem with it if it was only pay for customization (like a paint job or a piece of clothing that isn't any better for gameplay but just adds a new style) or stuff that wouldn't influence developers to mess with gameplay in order
to encourage you to pay to advance.
