Xbox microphone muted for months now

I have been searching for a fix to this continuous muted microphone for months now..and STILL cannot find someone with a resolution. My son's xbox just muted itself out of the blue one day. I have troubleshooted every headset in the house, gone through
all of the troubleshooting methods online, and spent over an hour on the phone with Microsoft xbox support, which was completely unsuccessful. His account is a child account, but I have gone through all of the settings, once by myself and once with Microsoft
support, to ensure those are all correct and compatible for online chatting. As others seem to have been told, this is in connection with some update from the insider program. What in the world is the fix to this issue, surely to god there is a fix by now...seems
it is NOT an uncommon problem.

Someone....anyone...please help! But honestly, don't reply with the same "troubleshooting" techniques that are all of the web and forums already, because none of them seem to work!

Do you have your Kinect Microphone muted? If it's muted it won't work.

Try performing a hard reset EXACTLY like this. Hold the power button on the console for 8 seconds or until the power shuts down completely. Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes. Plug the power cord back in and restart
the console.

If that doesn't work try a different headset and/or controller.

The microphone is muted, not the headset.

The headset and microphone works on another xbox and controller.

I have tried it on 2 controllers on the bone that is muted.

Hi, in party there is a setting to mute your microphone, if that is pressed it mutes your microphone without turning the light on the headset on.

Check in your party settings to see if your microphone is muted. If this works for you or if you need more help, post a reply!

All drivers on the controller and console are updated, I don't know how to check for headset drivers via Xbox. As for mixers, the headset only comes with a simple audio output control, and microphone mute, both of which haven't been messed with (as in,
the microphone isn't muted, and changing the slider doesn't affect microphone input).
