  1. Xbox Messaging unusual problem - returning issue

This is the second time this exact same issue has happened in the space of a month. Last time I posted a question here it was fixed by the next day, but no idea who or how.

    Attempted troubleshooting already undertaken:

    Power cycle

Turn notifications off, power cycle, turn on

    Remove profile, redownload.

    Resetting alternate MAC address

    Factory reset

Xbox messaging on the Xbox one is failing to maintain a connection to the messaging server. Emulated Xbox 360 messaging is working flawlessly, however.

This results in notifications for messaging failing to ever show, but only messaging is affected, all other notifications including invites work as intended.

Any messages sent will be received by the intended user as normal, but display permanently as "Sending" unless the conversation is closed then re-opened. Newly recieved messages must be manually checked for by opening the conversation to force the Xbox to open
a connection to the messaging server which it appears to drop again immediately.

There is no way I can find to manually monitor, refresh or check the connection to the communication server. If one exists, it would be appreciated if this was made known to me as currently the only way to force the Xbox to refresh messages is to wait until
it detects it hasn't connected to messaging for long enough to check again once the messaging tab is opened again.

This most likely requires technician attention since it seems unable to be fixed from client side, but the current help chat is not helpful and occasionally doesn't even provide potentially relevant solutions or understand what I am trying to say.

On an unrelated side note, if there is an option to find any question posted by yourself, I can't find it. I am unable to find my previous question on this same problem.

    :)

    HI Soft,

Thanks for coming to the forums. Things happen from time to time. We recommend to wait it out a little and see if it fixes itself. If not then come back and post here.

    Thanks,

    Brad

It eventually solved itself again but only after I posted on here, oddly.

Normally I'd have just waited it out, it is a recurring issue but this time was the most odd, and the longest.

Is there a way I can manually check a connection besides trying to improvise by triggering the messaging system to check when it has detected enough of a time gap?

The lack of tools to manually diagnose the problem when it isn't so bad as to generate an error code is annoying.

What to do about constant freezing on dashboard and in apps/games?

Hi Cat. Sorry to read you're having troubles with your XBOX One. These are unusual issues. Since they are happening across different apps and just in general use, I'd recommend returning it for a new unit. They are normally problem free but you seem to be
experiencing a lot of issues that seem to be of internal problems in the unit itself. Please keep us up to date. Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance.

I've been getting them for pizza stuff that I don't even care about. The best thing I can say is just block them and report them, and move on.

Hey guys - yeah, from what I've learned, this is a problem that is known by the engineers and is being worked on to find the solution. As of right now, you need to report EVERY profile from whom you get Spam messages.

You will need to choose "report" and then for the reason, for now all you can pick is Voice Communication, because right now, Text Spam is not a choice. Just make sure after you choose Voice, you add to the description specifying "text message Solicitation
    - SPAM."

I currently have a feedback post and a message to one of the engineers asking to have Spam Messages added to the list of reporting reasons. For now, though, this should be enough to get the info to the devs that they need!

Also, yes, definitely BLOCK after submitting the report. It won't prevent other spammers from sending duplicate messages, but it will at least prevent junk from the same person.

    Hope this helps!
