Xbox Messages not being recieved through Laptop?

Ok so I have an Xbox account on a microsoft laptop of course but when I am trying to send messages through the Xbox smartglass app on here, I dont know if the person I am sending it to gets the messages, my question is do people who have the xbox1 app on
thier phone or just plain Xbox1 recieve messages sent from my laptop because when I would message him from just the xbox 360 he would respond but then when I would message him from my laptop I wouldnt get an answer, is he recieving it? or is that not able
from a laptop to moble?

Ok, i just recieved my code, but it say it's for xbox 360 not xbox one in the descriptiin as it says, from the message i recieved from Xbox Live.

I'm not being picky, and i know i can possibly download the 360 version, but honestly i prefer the Xbox One version.

Have you asked them if they are receiving the messages? Normally when if you are using the Xbox App on a Windows 10 PC or device yes he should be receiving the messages on his mobile app. Maybe try testing it out with the other player and see if they in
fact are not getting the messages. If that's the case you may want to see about getting an updated version of the Xbox App or Windows itself.

If possible could you specify where the message is coming from? At the top right corner it accesses the Xbox messages, not sure if this is different to what I'm supposed to be clicking on since this is the forum website.

The Xbox messages is where the message would be going to. So the messages on the top right corner would be correct or you can access them through your messages on the console or Xbox app.

Im sorry but theres no messages at all that contain the code, i dont know whats the name of the person im recieving the code from or if its directly from xbox live messages but i havent recieved anything. Not sure if theres a way for you to access my messages
but theres literally nothing i have recieved

To clarify:

You have a new laptop with built-in speakers

You have a set of external speakers which are plugged into the laptop

The audio won't play through the external speakers and is only being played through the laptop speakers

Xbox sends those promotional codes always through the xbox messages if you didn't recieve a message from xbox on your xbox i would recommend talking to custumor support on this issue
