    I've got a series of charges for Target for a credit card I only use for XBL, check for statements

    why xbox shouldnt be free

    Xbox has been hacked way more times than psn. not for CC info but for the sake of argument it has been hacked way more times for numerous reasons example the hacked MS and stole tons of MS points... MS products get hacked every single year. Online gaming
    experience has no relation to being more hack proof. Hacking all depends on what the user that is hacking wants. If you think your CC info is safe on an xbox then your a complete idiot.

    You should also check your bank statements to see if a charge has gon through on the CC.

    Hi there,

    Sorry to hear about the charges. I do have a couple questions (you don't have to answer them, but at least think about the answer)...

    The credit card, is it one of the newer ones with a RFID chip in it? Do you carry it with you, or is it locked up in a secure location within your home so no one can get to it?

    I ask because if it's a newer card with a chip, that you don't have secured, it can be skimmed from a short distance away.

    If you don't have it locked up in your residence, someone could easily have picked it up without your knowledge written down all the info and used it.

    If you are making any Marketplace purchases from a computer, is it your personal computer that no one has access to and do you regularly check it for viruses and malware to ensure something wasn't installed to read your personal data?

    If you have an online login for that particular credit card account when was the last time you changed your login password (as well as for all your other accounts)?

    The word hack gets tossed around often when the truth later comes out that a user didn't take steps to secure their data. I want to make sure you did everything to keep your personal data private.

    It is a good reminder to always check statements.

    Redeem codes purchased from store, charged extra in-game.

    Sorry you found this out the hard way. Now that Xbox has switched to a currency system taxes must be charged on marketplace items. If you add paypal or a CC to your account the difference will automatically be deducted from that method after the currency
    on your account has been used.
