XBOX lying download speed?

I recently bought an unspecified game, and it's not too bad at only 8gb to download. However, my download never actually got above 0%, as it download 2-3 mb and then stopped. It didn't pause or queue or quit or anything, it just stalled and didn't download.
Every once in a while it will burst out 3-20 more mbps and stop. I've checked the detailed network statistics and it shows my download speed at a stable 20-30 mbps with low latency. Is it possibly just time for a new xbox or is this an easily fixed issue? Thanks!

Keep an eye on the service page for more info. I understand that you're upset about the outage but remember that lots of people are suffering right now too.

EA Lying

I have just spoken to a ea advisor and i got promised a draft token had been put in my account!

after 30 mins i still had not received it so i spoke to another advisor and he then told me that i was not promised one and kicked me from the chat, which then led me to speak to someone else, which then i asked from him to look at the transcript and he came
back and also said i hadn't been promised one, so i asked if i could have the transcript sent to me, which i was quickly told then would not send me it, quickly after they ended the chat when i asked why they couldn't !

i was wondering if this sort of thing has happened to anyone else and what was the outcome ?

One thing to remember when downloading files is there is a difference between bites and bits. File sizes are always listed in bites. Speeds are always listed in bits. So if you have a 2GB file and have a 1Gb service that file will not download in 2 seconds.
There are 8bits for every bite. So even running at full optimal speed it will take 8x's longer than what most people think. Then there are connection speeds at the server, and traffic in the server. Plus what the xbox is able to handle computing wise. Whether
its wifi or hardwired. So many things affect download speeds on console. Try running a download while playing a game or running another program and the download slows to a crawl. Not sure if xbox prioritizes the other programs and slows background downloads
but it sure seems like it does. Its best to download offline. I get the best speeds with downloads when the xbox is sitting idle doing nothing but the download. Do anything it slows it down. So with your example of 250Mbps downloading a 40GB file will roughly
take 21 minutes. Most people I would ask that question to would think that file would download in 3 minutes. Why do they put bits in speed and put bites on file size? Who knows.

Yeah, it seems they have a cap space for downloads.

Sony and Steam also seem to have this. Most likely in place to keep the servers fully optimized.

It seems that the download speed is locked on the Xbox's.

Regardless of what my internet speed is the download speed never changes.
