    Xbox login failure error code 0x80040900


    Error code appears in the following manner:

    Soft boot Xbox from either controller or front panel. Hit home key and select my account profile to log on. Screen dims as if about to request passcode and then hangs for a long duration (over 1 minute). Finally black screen is presented with error code 0x80040900
    and suggests that xbox.com/errorhelp is searched.

    If the Xbox is restarted (soft boot) the issue persists but issue is cleared if a hard boot is used.

    Additional observation: attempting to log in to my Xbox account on Macbook using Safari led to an incorrect password message. Clearing the password and re-submitting logged me on correctly (but without any sign that I was logged on e.g. the disc badge in
    the top right wasn't showing just the SIGN IN text). The password is saved correctly in the browser security options so this appears to be an issue with the password validation.

    Hi Gamer

    This is what I could find for the error code mentioned:

    Have done all the suggested (uninstall and followed all the steps in the help/errors (minus a full console reset)) and still get the 0x80040900 error code. I assume the next step is a full console reset or is there any other angle to resolve this issue?
