XBox Live Update won't download - black screen

Hello - I received a notification that I needed to download an update XBox Live, and when I did so, the screen turned black. Has this been a common problem either with this update or with others? I've never seen it before and can't find anything recent
about it. I seem to lose all function (though the console and the TV think they are connected and a signal is running so the TV does not go to sleep), and when I do a hard reboot, the system runs and asks me to run the update again.

Why is Black OPS....

He is what happened. I put Black OPS into my 360. Started up like it always does. Before it got to the screen to select "Campaign, Multiplayer" I got the "Disconnected from Xbox Live". Then the download screen came up and said "Please wait while update is
applied"

After which Black OPS goes directly to the multiplayer screen. Now if I try playing Black OPS or go back to the Dashboard. I get disconnected from Xbox Live.

Update not working

I get on to play Black Ops 2 and it says if I dont download this update I will be signed out of xbox live. I did the download, and when it was done went to a black screen and hasnt moved in over a hour. What the hell is going on.

Greetings Josh!

Before you proceed to update the system, follow the steps up front and let us know how that goes and we'll go from there.

Press the Guide button on your controller, go to Settings, and select System Settings.

Select Storage or Memory.

Highlight any storage device, and then press Y on your controller.

Select Clear System Cache.

Repeat this process 3 times in a row.

Delete a portion of the current system update installed on your console. Here's how:

Go to System Settings and select Storage.

On your controller, press the following button sequence:

Press the left bumper.

Press the right bumper.

Press the X button.

Press the left bumper.

Press the right bumper.

Press the X button.

Restart your console and apply the system update.

Post back and let us know how that goes.

My game won't load at all. It goes straight to a black screen and just sits there. I've downloaded a few updates but i'm thinking that is the problem. Does anyone have a similar issue or a fix?

I'm not in the beta either but i got the black screen too when i downloaded black ops 2 update an it froze my xbox, 3 times and then would not let me sign back in till i deleted the update an my catch. i still can't download the update for black ops cause
i dont want the stupid thing to ruin my 360
