Xbox Live - Unable to add friends

I am currently unable to add friends on Xbox Live. This is the first time that I have tried but just get a generic error message to check the online support. When I test my Xbox Live connection - everything appears to be ok apart from a 'matchmaking' error.
Could this be the problem? This has been ongoing for over a week now.

UNABLE TO ADD FRIENDS

Keep getting error message saying "Sorry, we are unable to save your changes at the moment. Try again in a while.".

I've tried through the website and same thing happens.

Had a quick look on Google and found no fix or helpful information whatsoever. I have had this issue for weeks. People can add me fine.

U aren't the only one I'm in the same boat. I belive it's just Xbox messing up again they'll fix it when they can. But for now u have to go on Xbox.com and do it manually

Sorry to see any issues adding people to your friends list! Which gamertags are you attempting to add? It may be possible that they have you blocked, and that's why you're receiving that message. What I want to do is test out I can add them here on my professional
account. If not, we may want to dig further into what might be going on.
