XBOX Live TV video degradation through Tivo Roamio PRO

Thanks HB1R. Is it true dolby by using the beta version surround and still using HDMI? I want to avoid the S/PDIF. Also, any insight into the video degradation issue on the roamio?

Yes, it is true Dolby. This is not ideal, but I run S/PDIF. Plus S/PDIF is the ideal audio cable. Just an idea while we work on fully supported HDMI.

It is possible that a slight degradation can occur while daisy chaining devices. I have not heard any issue specifically with Panasonic 1522. I played Last of Us (shock and awe) through pass-through last night as a test, and it worked like a champ. Good
HDMI 2.0 cable for the win (+/- $30) (A good rule of thumb is if you don't know what version of HDMI it is... it isn't 2.0). It is possible the TiVo is set for an 'i' setting not a 'p'. The other thing, start simple. TiVo HDMI (2.0) Xbox One HDMI TV. Get the
control working well first, then expand.

Dolby via HDMI is in beta, from what I understand it is true uncompressed. Although for me, I will always personally recommend S/PDIF (as I am a fan) as much as I will always recommend wired (Ethernet) connection. It can be done other ways, but I am stubborn

Thanks for the reply. I'm sorry to hear about the issue with Connecting TiVo to the Xbox One for setting up the OneGuide feature.

There are a few requirements to use the
OneGuide with your TV and Xbox One:

• A cable or satellite set-top box with HDMI output, or an Xbox One USB TV Tuner.
• A connection to Xbox Live to download channel lineup information for OneGuide.
• A Kinect sensor or an IR emitter cable.

Unfortunately, as stated in the
TiVo Support article. It seems like the feature will not be applied due to the hardware for TiVo.

TiVo products have different HDMI requirements:

• Roamio Series, Premiere Series, Series3, and TiVo HD DVRs require an HDCP key only when you try to view or record copy-protected material while an HDMI cable or HDMI-to-DVI adapter cable is connected to the box.
• Roamio Series, Premiere Series, and TiVo HD DVRs require an HDCP key any time that you are viewing digital content, whether the content is copy protected or not, if an HDMI cable or HDMI-to-DVI adapter cable is connected to the box.

How would one go about telling the Xbox One to tell your TiVo to play back a recording of a show without seeing the list of shows on the TiVo?

TiVo does not support HDMI CEC. TiVo is proprietary. To do what you're looking for would require MS to work with TiVo to create an IP-based control system that allows the Xbox One to pull the inventory of shows on your TiVo, then present them to you for selection
using the Xbox One interface.

Maybe you aren't aware, but
TiVo and MS do not like each other. I own a Roamio Pro. I have no intention of giving it up. I am under no illusions that my Xbox One will never have any sort of fine-grained control over my Xbox One. This isn't an issue for me because I have an iPhone
and an iPad, both of which run TiVo's app allowing me to control my TiVo without my TiVo remote.

With more and more TV moving to Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Instant Video, there's less and less reason to use a DVR. The Xbox One's HDMI input is there to stop you from switching away from the Xbox One when you're in your living room. Eventually, though, it
won't be needed because it will become your "set-top box" by virtue of IP TV.
