XBOX LIVE TV -- PICTURE BUT NO SOUND

Setup:

Samsung SmartTV (3 years old)

Cox Communications HD DVR box

Previously, I have had issues with the TV freezing. As I understand it, this is a known problem when the unit goes into standby? I have worked around this problem by cold-booting the XBOX. This was working until this morning. Now, I have a clear picture;
however, NO SOUND. I have tried muting/unmuting my TV and Audio Receiver to make sure nothing is muted - that is not the problem. I have even checked other devices (media center and Blu-Ray player) and the sound played perfectly on them. Furthermore, our
cable signal in other rooms is getting audio... so I have narrowed the problem down to the XBOX.

This NO SOUND thing just started happening this morning... it was working fine last night. I even did a COLD BOOT and STILL NO SOUND. The XBOX itself is getting sound... just not the TV.

Please help.... the amount of problems the LIVE TV is having has become very aggravating and annoying. I am sick and tired of having to re-hook up our cable box directly to the TV because the XBOX messes it up.

Xbox One issues after 07.02.16 update

My Xbox one is no longer playing sound from Blue-Rays. It plays TV sound and will continue to play TV sound while Blue-Ray picture is running. This is since the latest update. I tried turning off the TV source then I have no sound. I restarted Xbox one twice
but no help.

 

Live tv picture slow to start.

When I turn my xbox on there is sound but no live tv picture. Instead There is a screen showing called the New Media Guide. It's prompts me to select my tv type, (sd or hd) but when I try nothing moves on the screen. After 5 minutes the tv picture shows
up. Anyone experiencing the same problem, or have a solution. Thanks in advance.

 

Sorry to hear about the issue. Have you tried by-passing the AVR (receiver)? Different HDMI cables? Not getting audio after audio had been working leads me to think that the HDMI cable went bad. Have you tried S/PDIF?

 

I have had the same issue with my Sony tv and Directv box, nothing has fixed it. Not even a replacement unit. My guess is that a update at some point will address it. Until then I stopped using the TV bypass feature.

I have the same issue. So frustrating as i use skype a lot so it is cool to be watching TV and have skype pop up telling me i have a call incoming, Anyway the way i have gotten around this is by turning my xbox off and removing the plug from the wall socket
- so power is completely cut from the xbox one. Then when i turn the xbox one back on i get sound when i switch to tv mode. I have to do this everyday when i get home from work and i have just gotten used to it but it is annoying!

My system setup is very simple:

Samsung Virgin Media (UK) box

HDMI cable

XBOX One

HDMI Cable

Toshiba LCD

I have tried swapping hdmi cables with new ones i bought but it made no difference.

Model of STB (cable/sat box)?

The new cables have what rating (it is likely something else but it is the most basic of 'where to begin')?

It could be an issue we are working with, where: an HDPC relay fails the handshake authentication (which is why the reset works).

If you are sure everything else is 100% perfect in every way, try the low power ("Energy Saver") mode on the Xbox One. I have seen this as a work-around. Although not ideal for sure, it may 'resolve' the issue until an update resolves the issue.

Having the same issue. Was working fine now picture, but no sound when watching TV.

The setup is:

Dish Network

Pioneer TV

HDMI cable

XboxOne

 

Has anyone found a solution to this problem? Im having the same problem.

 

I was having similar issues, with picture only and no sound. switching power settings from instant on to energy saving worked for me.

(works with Shaw HD for the Canadians out there)
