    Xbox Live Teredo address not obtained in China


    Hello,

    I am an American living abroad in China. I have a US Xbox live account. When I connect to the Xbox app on Windows 10 and check the network under settings, it says "Teredo address not obtained". Is this a problem I can fix or is Xbox Live [US account] banned
    in China?? Brand new hand built windows PC, checked the settings with the Teredo FAQ. Everything checks out but still get the error.

    I was thinking of getting an Xbox to sign in with my US Xbox live account, but if I can't connect to play multiplayer/chat then there is no point. Xbox Live Teredo address not obtained in China :(

    Please help!

    Also I tested it by trying to play a free windows 10 xbox live game that has online multiplayer. it seems to work...so if I was to buy a future Xbox 'play anywhere title' would this affect the multiplayer?

    Have you tried created a free chinese account just to test if you still get the teredo error?

    If you still get teredo errors with a chinese account then you can probably rule out the possibility that the great firewall of china is blocking US accounts.

    Press the Start button , select Settings > Gaming > Xbox Networking, and look for NAT Type under Xbox Live multiplayer.

    If it says Teredo is unable to qualify, it means your PC is unable to obtain a Teredo IP address.

    If you can’t hear your friends online, or you can’t join or host an Xbox Live multiplayer game, go to
    Network > Settings in the Xbox app and check
    NAT type    .

    If it says Teredo is unable to qualify, your PC is unable to obtain a Teredo IP address.

    Teredo is a networking protocol that’s used to establish secure communications between clients and servers, and to facilitate connectivity between devices behind routers that use network address translation
    (NAT).

    Failure to obtain a Teredo IP address can occur when there’s an issue with your Teredo adapter, when a device on your network is blocking the Teredo protocol, or if there’s software installed on your PC
    that’s disabling Teredo functionality. Without a Teredo IP address, you’ll be unable to use party chat or do multiplayer gaming on Xbox Live.
