Do i have to call support to cancel the auto renewal, i cant access it online because my mobile number has changed and could not get the code in a text. i had to change number but now its locked me out for 30 days till the new number is cleared.

Need to disable auto renewal xbox live

I need to disable auto renewal on my xbox live account. I was on the phone line to customer support but ran out of credit half way through. as my 3 month xbox live subscription card wouldnt work I need to disable the auto renewal feature as I dont have enough
in my account to cover it and will go into a very expensive overdraft If i get charged...

Summary - I need to disable auto renewal but cant as I have no credit and wont be able to either.

Turning Auto-Renewal 'off' does not work correctly!

So, I have been a loyal xbox supporter and enthusiast for 5 years now. I have always bought a gold year subscription and just allowed it to renewal; that is until this year. I had to switch jobs and was a little low on funds, so decided to use some of those
free month subscriptions they always put into the new games you buy (I had about 3 of them). After they ran out I decided to just buy a 3 month subscription. During this 3 month subscription I had changed my auto-renewal to 'OFF' because I wasn't sure if I
would have the money for it by the time the renewal period came. I've always trusted microsoft and went about the next few months without a worry in the world. Sure enough, as if microsoft was like one of those kind of sketchy, greedy online companies, I had
a 3 month renewal charge show up on my credit card. There is nothing I can do about it now, even though I clearly stated in my settings that I did not want the renewal. I just want to give a warning to everyone out there.

It may have to do with a glitch because even though I 'truely' bought a 3 month subscription, under my subscriptions list it has it stated as a 1 month prepaid (that also renewals). I'm not sure if everyone who buys a 3 month subscription has it stated as
a 1 month prepaid or if that was just a glitch with me. But i'm thinking with this glitch, if you use a free month subscription and then pay for additional months while still under the free month it will auto renewal without checking for the users' preferences.

May be an unusual situation but wanted to let people know!

Hi there, I believe as you had no money in your account there would be one month which you have missed a payment for and will need to contact phone support to have it rectified before you can add the 3 months:

To add to what has already been said keep this in mind.

If you ever use the card to purchase any subscription (Gold, Gamepass, EA access) the system will turn the auto renew on for that subscription so at the end of whatever amount of time you pay for (1 month, 3 month, 1 year) it will automatically renew for
that period at the end of the current timeframe.

Now with the 3 month and 1 year subscriptions ONE month prior to it renewing it will send you out an email reminder letting you know that it is coming due.

The only time it will not auto renew is if you were to purchase one of the xbox live gold subscription cards (you can purchase these at any retail store) and enter in the 25 digit code on the card into your account and those will not auto renew.

When you purchase Xbox Live Gold, it will auto renew (if you used a credit card) in the intervals that your bought. So if you bought 3 months worth, it'd auto renew after 3 months and so on. If you cancel it before the three months is over, you'll still
have the remaining time left to play until your account changes to a silver (free) account.

Same thing happened to me last month. My xbox live subscription was ending and I didn't want to renew so I turned of auto-renew. When the date came I got billed for another 3 months. My auto-renew had mysteriously got turned back on. Its my suspicion that
Microsoft is secretly turning auto-renew back on to keep subscribers. And no, I NEVER got an email telling my subscription was going to be renewed. Microsoft appears to be using dishonest business tactics to keep customers. Canceling Xbox live gold is beginning
to feel a lot like trying to cancel AOL in the age of broadband internet. Perhaps pressure from PSN is causing Microsoft to turn to cheating its customers to make more money.

When you enter your payment info it will automatically be set to auto renew. That way each month money will automatically be taken from your payment method each month. You will be notified 15days in advance before being charged.
