xbox live subscription for chid

I have tried to purchase an xbox live subscription for my son. Even when I put in a purchasing option, I cannot buy a subscription logged into his ID.

I have purchase the subscription on my ID, but do not know how to allow him to use the same subscription. One of the two ways should work. Any help is appreciated.

Unfortunately on the 360 there is no way to share gold subscription. Gold would have to be added to your son's account in order for him to be able to use it. Since this is more of a billing issue, you may want to contact support directly. They may also
be able to cancel the gold that was purchased on your account and give you a token for the remaining time to add to your son's. http://support.xbox.com/contact-us

Thank you for posting on Xbox Forums. In regards to this issue, you have a few options in regards to sharing access to Xbox Live. First option is to view the support article that was suggested by the Ambassador to
Create a Child Account or Add Family Member to Xbox One. You can also use the
Home Share feature as an option to share your Xbox Live Gold with your sons account.

My son is already defined as family on my xbox account. We are on an Xbox 360, not an Xbox One.

We have already attempted to complete the support document telling you how to create a subscription on your sons account. No payment option shows even though one is defined. When selecting join, no action occurs.

Thank you all for your patience.

1). The xbox and the son came to me via foster system so the xbox home is designated to the sons account.

2). I associated my son with my Xbox ID and added him to my family through the web app. The instruction are very close to those you posted.

3). I logged on to his xbox id from the web page and added a payment option.

4). I went to subscriptions and added a yearly subscription to xbox live.

5). When I tried to "join" to pay for the subscription, I was not given a payment dialog.

6). I went through these same steps on my xbox id and successfully purchased a yearly subscription.

Maybe you can tell me why I cannot buy a subscription from my sons account which is associated with mine in the family section?

Is there another way that I can share my subscription with my son without changing the Xbox home id?
