Xbox live subscription cancelled but still getting charged monthly

It's a scam. The error message is fake. I've tried multiple times in the last 6 months to cancel and here's what I've come up with:

Xbox Live does not let you cancel your subscription or remove a payment option, if you have an outstanding balance.

Xbox Live auto-renews your monthly subscription, but won't actually charge it. It will keep it "pending" until the next time it tries to auto-renew.

I went to account.xbox.com and it said I was charged and paid for my monthly xbox live service. But when I checked commerce.microsoft.com, it said the charge was still pending, 13 days later.

So essentially, you're ALWAYS with an outstanding balance, so you can't modify your payment options.

It took over 30 minutes with Customer Support to clarify this. I have still not been able to cancel my subscription.

It sounds like your membership was suspended for nonpayment on a monthly subscription. Was the time you were "unable to access the account" time where you were moving or didn't have the money to pay your membership? If your subscription was set up to auto
renew monthly and you missed a payment for say, May and June, you'd owe $19.98 and your account would freeze AFTER the June month is pretty much over. That means that Xbox DID provide you Xbox Live for those months and you just paid your PAST DUE balance.
If you forgot to cancel your membership, well, now you know what to do for next time you aren't using your membership. It's just like Netflix, if you're not using it, cancel it or you'll still get charged.

How to turn off your auto-renew:

You'll need to contact customer service.

The typical reason for this is that you cancelled the subscription after the next monthly sub started. And since the next month started before you canceled, the charge was still pending until the billing date hit.

Customer service can explain those dates and what they see. If you were not using the subscription after you canceled it, you might get a refund.

It states that you receive $1 for one month, not monthly. You can
cancel auto-renewal so you don't get billed that $9.99.

I was given a one month trial when I bough my xbox that automatically changed to a recurring one month membership. Last month I upgraded the monthly gold membership to a yearly one. Yet this month, Microsoft still charged my account the monthly fee on top
of the yearly one. So I am now essentially being charged for two live accounts even though I only have one! The "contact us" tabs on the Microsoft website don't open to anything, neither does the live chat option. When I tried to cancel the monthly subscription,
the screen said the only one I have is a yearly membership, even though they just charged me the monthly fee last week!!

I live in Ireland, I can't find any other way of dealing with this issue from the Microsoft website.
