Xbox Live sign-in error

I have lived and worked in South Korea for a few years. Recently I installed the Microsoft Ultimate Word Games Xbox Live app onto my laptop. I did so in South Korea.

When I opened the app on my laptop, I received a sign-in error as the app tried to sign in to Xbox Live. The error is: 0x8015DC0C.

After receiving the error and following the directions to wait and retry, I went to the webpage with the solutions offered by Microsoft. In trying to implement those solutions, I came to a page that required an age verification.

South Korea has a stringent policy for gaming, such that anyone seeking to play any game online must provide an age verification. It requires documents which I did not have. Because I could provide an age verification, I could not sign in to Xbox Live
through the app and I could not play using my gamertag ID.

This is my interpretation for what happened as no actual explanation was given for the inability to sign in.

As a result I have been playing as a guest, with no data for my progress saved anywhere except for my computer.

I have now returned to Canada. I thought that by returning to Canada, the app would recognize my new location, realize it didn't need to restrict me any longer and I would be logged in. This has not happened.

When I open the app, it still gives me the same log in error. I have gone into my account with Microsoft and changed everything to make sure the account knows I am in Canada. I have also done so with my Xbox account settings. Nothing has changed the error.
I still cannot log in and I still cannot play using my gamertag ID.

I have other game apps from Microsoft that do sign in properly and allow me to save my progress to my account rather than just to my computer. Therefore I know that it is possible. I do not know what the problem is with the Ultimate Word Games app.

If anyone has any suggestions about what the real problem is, and what I can do to fix it, I would appreciate the feedback.

i cant sign in!!! help!!

ok, so a while back LIVE sent me a message over xbox live and said that i needed to enter in a security code for my account so no one else could sign in to it. i ignored it. a few days ago i was at my friends house and i couldnt download my account. an error code popped up. now when i try to sign in to xbox live on my computer, it makes me go through all this crap. my email hooked up to xbox live is hotmail and it is microsoft too. i have to enter that stuff in my hotmail account too! Help!

 

Microsoft looking into Error Code 0x8004888d

I haven't seen this error yet, but a lot of people aren't able to connect to live. Maybe you are among the people suffering from error code "0x8004888d". It pops up whenever someone tries to sign into their account. So far the news is that Microsoft is working hard to fix the issue. So are you having the problems?
