Xbox Live Sign-in Error

When trying to sign into xbox live on our xbox 360, my son gets the error message "Your parent's Microsoft account isn't valid. Your parent needs to choose a different account to manage your xbox profile". I have logged into my account with no issue. When
we clicked on "Change Parent Microsoft Account" (one of the two options provided on screen...the other is to play offline) it freezes the system. We have been trying to resolve this for a week and I am at a loss...please help!

i cant sign in!!! help!!

ok, so a while back LIVE sent me a message over xbox live and said that i needed to enter in a security code for my account so no one else could sign in to it. i ignored it. a few days ago i was at my friends house and i couldnt download my account. an error code popped up. now when i try to sign in to xbox live on my computer, it makes me go through all this crap. my email hooked up to xbox live is hotmail and it is microsoft too. i have to enter that stuff in my hotmail account too! Help!

 

Microsoft looking into Error Code 0x8004888d

I haven't seen this error yet, but a lot of people aren't able to connect to live. Maybe you are among the people suffering from error code "0x8004888d". It pops up whenever someone tries to sign into their account. So far the news is that Microsoft is working hard to fix the issue. So are you having the problems?

 

I'm having the same problem with a new XBOX 360. I've never used an XBOX before. Previously my son had played games on my Windows 10 laptop. I have his account set up to be a child account. He's 9 years old. Is there a minimum age for XBOX? I've successfully
imported my XBOX account using the same account that I use to manage my son's account.
