  1. Xbox live sharing?

Hello everyone, new to the forum here but in desperate te need of some advice. So last year I bought a Xbox one and bought 12 month gold subscription on my brothers account. This year I bought another Xbox one for myself. Now I don't t want to buy the
XB1 gold again because I thought we could share online. I tried signing his profile in on my Xbox then tried to access grand theft auto online, but it kept denying it. It said Xbox live is required. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    :)

    Xbox live sharing?

I don't think the xbox live family sharing works in the way you want it to. It works only for one console with multiple profiles on it. If you have two separate consoles technically they are two different "homes". So sharing your xbox live membership technically
shouldn't work. But hey I guess its worth a shot.

Try adding your profile to your brothers Xbox console as family. Make sure your brother is profile is set to home sharing. (support.xbox.com/.../my-home-xbox).

Then download your profile to your new Xbox and see if you can access the gold membership.

If by chance it does work by some odd way, I'm pretty sure only one of you can be online at a time so it still comes down to needing another subscription. If it doesn't work, well... at least you tried!

Unfortunately I'm quite sure you can't share gold accounts between xbox's. It could've eventually elude to people exploiting it and sharing digital games, add-ons, movies, etc from the marketplace. However I could be wrong.

Hopefully someone with more knowledge on the matter can assist you. I wish you luck in figuring out and solving your issue!

  6. There used to be something called "Xbox Live Gold Family Pack" which has been discontinued as of August 27 2013. This allowed up to 4different accounts to use Xbox Live for a year paying just 99$. This was intended for families and my guess is that
they discontinued it because people who were just friends (which it was not intended for) also got it etc....

Microsoft is breaking up the family, putting an end to Xbox Live Gold Family Packs

As of sharing on the Xbox One you have to be on the same Xbox. The gold account has to be signed in and the non gold account has to be added as family on the "home" Xbox. So it's not possible unless you basically live in the same house because every time the
Gold user would sign in on another Xbox their account would be locked on the "home" Xbox untill recovered again.

When the Xbox One was first revealed to be an always on device (it had to connect to the internet every 48 hours to confirm licenses in order to play games and it had options to sell digitally purchased games etc...) it was possible to add
family across multiple Xbox devices to share gold. However this got a lot of negative feedback from the community because offline gaming would not exist because of that. So that's why you can't share among multiple consoles/accounts now

I thought the DRM idea with the Xbox one was a great idea but yeah, most people in the community seemed to only have a short sight on gaming and didn't think about the future of it. With the DRM always on Xbox One games could potentially become cheaper and
more like steam but yeah that's all in the past now

When sharing Xbox Live and games, the account that purchased Xbox Live can share the service. You have to set your home console with the account used to purchase Xbox Live, then you can share Xbox Live and games when you sign in with that account on other
consoles. Here is some instructions on how this works linked below.
