Xbox Live service discontinued for Xbox 360 by 2016?

What Will Happen When..

I suppose it will be like when they discontinued the service for original xbox games. I am sure that the 360 LIVE service will continue at least for awhile though.

 

Xbox One online connection required

I agree. Besides, requiring online connection every 24 hours for playing means the console or at least its games will be useless after the services are discontinued. At least with Xbox 360, you can still play single player after Xbox Live Support for 360
will be discontinued. Sorry to say this, Microsoft, but after you are done with Xbox 360, I am done with you.

 

I am getting ready to make the jump to the One. I have been watching the games being released and more and more games are not to include the 360 therefore, the transition is now in full swing. One game is Dying light without this game for the 360 you can
see how more and more will be no longer part of 360.

I think by next summer the 360 will totally end to force consumers to buy and play the One MS will need to cut off the other food source and shut down 360 live or Ms will defeat its overall purpose for putting out the One.

So, if you have not yet made the jump over I suggest you do and start saving now to help you with the jump or your days in gaming will be over due to your lacking foresight. Another issue we much take a look at is the Feb 26, 2015 FCC Bill to make the Internet
into a Utility Bill with your cable company and phone provider this overall will make cost rise considerably and will place a sure damper on your gaming. I hope this doesn't happen but I am sure it will be left up or force each state to charge more tax for
each click you make on the internet and streaming you do from music to gaming to just looking at any website page.

I don't understand. It will be impossible to play online and see our friends list after 2016?

What will we do with our 360 games we enjoy playing online?

If it's like that, I hope they are thinking about backward compatibility on Xbox One.

 

I don't believe the 360 will retire LIVE services in 2016, I think that they will discontinue production on Xbox 360's but Xbox LIVE services will still be there.

 

XB 360 is way better than the XB 1 in many ways...

 

I think it will be like Windows. They will stop updating the Xbox 360, but we will be able to play online.

 

11 million XBOne's sold or is that shipped ? That leaves 69 million still on the 360.

 

With the limited games coming out for the 360 it seems they are forcing you to buy the Xbox1. So it makes since they will discontinue 350 live. If you could use the gamesaves in the cloud from the 360 providing you get the same games if available for the
one it would be nice.

Hi guys, I found this on the web and it quickly got my attention. Xbox 360's Xbox Live will shut down at 2016. Why should Microsoft remove Xbox Live from a console that bought fortune to their company since the day it was released? Removing Xbox Live from
Xbox 360 means losing multiplayer to great games like Tekken, Minecraft and Far Cry. And what about the ones who bought the console later this year (ones like me)? We'll just experience a year of Xbox Live? And a 100 games won't fix this (just so you know)

SeLrAcH98 I know how you feel this is a bummer and I had live for 2 years and 2016 is early but it's a good business move for Microsoft because it encourages people to buy the 1.

It's called purchase motivation because you're stuck on the 360 and your friends are on the 1 so it gets you to think oh I will buy the 1 because all my friends have it.

 

Well, my friends also have the 360. So Microsoft's "purchase motivation" won't apply to everyone.
