xbox live rewards

i been a microsoft rewards program for years. during my time in the

program. i have renewed my gold automatically every 3 months since i

joined. i was under the impression when you buy gold you earn points? i

never have.. why?

I have Xbox Live Rewards too but I think the $15 Rewards credit is only good if you buy the physical copy through MicrosoftStore.com...?
