Xbox Live Rewards / MyVIP Gems

I just wanted to put this post up, because like many others on here at the moment, I am not particularly happy about the changes to the Xbox Live Rewards/MyVIP Gems.

The conversation rate for gems is awful, items are never in stock in the Vault (MS digital currency, seriously?) and to say the least, support for this from MS had been nonexistent.

I'm not here to tell everyone what we all already know. What I would like to do however is put a post up for all those negatively affected by this so that we have a unified voice in this matter. Taking a quick look through the forums, it's easy to see that
MS and the moderators are hoping to ignore this issue - I'm hoping that if enough of us say something on a single post that we can at least get the courtesy of a response, maybe even a resolution.

With that said, if you feel this post speaks to you or you have been affected by this issue, please respond or upvote. They might be willing to ignore us as individuals, but not if we share our voices.

Unused VIP gems

What will happen to my Xbox Live Rewards MyVIP Gems, MyVIP Perks, and MyVIP Vault?



You’ll have until 31 May 2018 to earn MyVIP Gems and unlock any new MyVIP Perks. You’ll then have until 15 June 2018 to claim any open MyVIP Perks and to redeem any unused MyVIP Gems in your Xbox Live Rewards account for prizes from the MyVIP Vault. After
this date any unredeemed MyVIP Gems will be converted to Microsoft Rewards points and can be used to redeem rewards from the Microsoft Rewards catalogue once your membership is transitioned. One MyVIP Gem will convert to one Microsoft Rewards point.

They don't care. They knew we would be pissed as long time xbox users and they did it anyway. The only way to hurt them is don't buy their products. They were giving away too much money during their contests so they pulled the plug. Typical corporate BS.

 

100% agree with this, I had recently (Probably last three months) started becoming so much more involved in the program because of the gems and a decent payout at the end (who wouldn't want an oculus or mixed reality headset) but the fact that now I can't
spend the 1200 ish gems I acquired on the decent stuff Giftcards etc because it all says Out of Stock is complete rubbish! And your also telling me at 1 gem = 1 reward point? If thats the case I could make loads of them thanks to the search with Bing stuff
(3 per search)!

The monetary value if you will of the Gem has been killed off 10 fold... 2000 gems = around £40 - going forward in the MS Rewards program 2000 Rewards is not even close to a £5 gift card (6000 needed)

MS Please just restock the Vault and let us get the last good scraps from what was good enough reward scheme...

 

I have enough gems for a 12 month subscription to Xbox live. But no matter how many times I try to purchase, it never works. It’s in stock but they don’t seem to want to give it to me.

 

I only have 700 Gems I was hoping to redeem for $15 Visa cards or even 15,000 reward credit to cash out before the change, which would only go back to game purchases.

At the end of the day it's the dollars they are concerned about. Pulling the rug on this program and converting your Gems to Microsoft points saves the company money from prizes they do not have to deliver on. While we have agreed to terms of service and
they can legally do this, this is still morally wrong on their part.

So there are 2 more-than likely reasons behind this lousy program transition:

A) The Program Manager is intentionally making this change without allowing individuals to cash in their GEMs and not resupplying the Vault

OR

B) the Program Manager is an incompetent employee.

(Not making any-name calling here, these are just the 2 more than-likely scenarios)

I hope more players see this post, I'm going to copy and paste the link in other posts and lets hope we get some kind of answer from MS. I 100% agree with everyone else and if the issue isn't addressed I definitely
WILL NOT participate in anymore of these stupid programs. I have been on Xbox Live since Crimson Skies way before Halo 2 online multiplayer. I only play World of Tanks and spent well over $1,500 the first year it was out, unfortunately the Freedom Rewards
wasn't around at the time because if it was I'd have a ton of gems/rewards points. MS get on your job and do the right thing. This is the second major overhaul of your currency/rewards and on top of the lack of vault rewards makes me want to take my business
else were.

 

I completely agree with you. Been playing phone tag with Xbox Support all morning trying to get to the bottom of this "Out of Stock" nonsense.

 

They don't care about their loyal fanbase and clearly dont think we are of value anymore. They want to copy and paste the success of minecraft selling 144 million copies across multiple devices they dont own. If they can grow their distribution with other
IPs or other technology rights to the extent that was done with minecraft, then the suits clearly have calculated the amount of distain and rage that has been incited by their inmoral business practices can easily be out done by the ceral box success they
hope to achieve and thus deem a small group of loyal butt hurt fans insignificant.

Those of us who bought into the illusion that our hard earn money we put into Microsoft's gaming division based on promises of a distinguished reward system have been shell shocked with the reality that Microsoft is a cut throat company and dropped us faster
than a bad habit when a more profitable business proposition developed. All the complaining we can muster up is falling on deaf ears. They view us as a large cancer sized tumor that needed to be cut off or better yet a parasitic worm living in the stomach.
If you went to the doctor and had a 10 foot tape worm removed from your stomach, would you care for the well being of the worm or discomfert it is experiencing after it was removed? You'd careless what happens to it after its gone.

That my friends is where we all stand in their eyes. We are just dieing worms they just cant wait to be rid of. The only real question that remains is where do we go from there? I'm too heavily invested to cut and run this gen. However, next i'm definitely
buying a PS5 even if I still buy the next XB so they'll never have my undivided attention ever again. In the mean time i'm only buying 90% of my games that go on sale for 50%~75% off with only a few expectations wereas in the 5 years i've average one new game
a month.

Microsoft only speaks one language and it's not honor, respect or trust rather its money so save your breath and come up with your own method of protesting with your wallet.

 

I’m definitely aggravated by this nonsense.

I’ve been a member of Xbox Live Rewards since the beginning. I’ve also been a member of Bing rewards ( Now Microsoft Rewards) since the beginning as well. While I have gotten a lot of great things from both, this transition is a Joke.

A Conversion Rate of of 1 VIP Gem = 1 MS Rewards Credit is a slap in the face. You can make about 700 MS Rewards Credits per day, depending on your account Level and whatnot.

So my 1200+ My VIP Gems that could’ve gotten me $25 worth of rewards, is now going to be reduced to about $1.50 worth of rewards? How in the holy hell does that make sense?!

I wonder if I just decide to not let them add my Xbox Live Rewards stuff to my existing MS Rewards account, that I’ll make out better for it, since they’re supposed to be transferring anyone’s My VIP and all that into Local Currency?

I know MS Rewards very well. That Gem=Credit conversion is a complete, barely laughable joke.

I definitely have to contact MS about this absurd crap. Share my Comment and everyone else’s comments on this topic as much as you can. We gotta wake those lazy idiots up to this issue they’ve created.

 

Fully agree with everyone here, we’ve been seriously let down as a result of this switch.

Like others I’ve invested time, money and effort in this programme and more so since the new gems etc. I can’t help thinking this move has been a long time coming and we’ve been encouraged to earn gems/rewards with MS safe in the knowledge that they were
hardly going to have to pay out on anything.

The blatant lack of a response from MS/support around all this (other than the vault is restocked periodically - which it isn't) is quite frankly disrespectful and shows a real disconnect between them and us the long serving, loyal fans.

If you aren’t going to restock the vault (when you did for one day no one could claim) at least give us the equivalent value in gems to reward points as we have earned currently - you are pretty much robbing us as it stands now.

 

Kind of pathetic... Microsoft.
