xbox live rewards level going down?

my xbox live rewards. level keeps going down. i dont understand why. it should be at level 5 as i spend hundreds of pounds a year on xbox live. but its at level 2 for some reason... silly. i dont understand why this is happening ?

Microsoft Rewards only level 1 and I am a VIP star 2, so I should be Level 2 in Microsoft Rewards

Microsoft Rewards & Xbox Live Rewards are two entirely separate programs with no affiliation with each other.

Oh ok then I guess it was just a conincedence then because I always got points right after reaching level 2 or level 3. When I made it to level 3 it said level 3 rewards earned. Though didn't get them till the end of the month.

So after thinking about it your post makes 100% sense. Hopefully the points I earned from purchasing get put in before xbox live rewards transfer to xbox live rewards or even by the 15th.

 

the highest it was ,was level 4 ( about year and a half ago) but i was running low in money and couldnt renew my gold for a month. thats why i think it went down to lvl one then... which is a bit rubbish. but i dont understand why its going down now?/

 

Ranks reset each year. You need to spend the same amount or more each year in order to either maintain your level or move up.

MyVIP has a recalibration every year. At the end of the year, we place you in your MyVIP rank for the new year based off your eligible spending from the previous year, and set your progress to the default state. This happened in September 2015 and December
2016. Based off your eligible spending from September 2015 - December 2016, you were placed at your current star rank. You can check your current MyVIP level/progress at (Xbox Live Rewards).
Furthermore, we see that the highest you have been is star rank 2, as far back as August 2015.
