Xbox Live Rewards Account reset itself

so i rarely log into the live rewards site and i never really think about it. the only thing i do is purchase games and play them and every so often $15 or more show up on my account from rewards and i get to spend more then i thought(YaY)

but i just logged in and my account seems to have been reset completely as if i have never used it before. now i don't know if this is just a little glitch that would sort itself out or if it's a more serious issue, but i figured i post here and see if you
guys could figure it out for me

Has anyone else got $6.00 free from microsoft on 360?

I was going to purchase a few games from xbox live on my 360 and I went to add a credit card and saw that for some reason that microsoft put $6.00 into my microsoft account and thought that was just from the rewards program. But I happen to check another account on my xbox 360 that i didn't even use the rewards program with and have just purchase one game with that account and it also has $6.00 in that account also is Microsoft given out $6.00 to us or what is the deal?

My understanding is that you get 2 licences, one for the Hardware and one for your live account.

The one which is attached to your live account means that if you go to someone else house log into there Xbox, you get access to your games until you log out.

The Hardware licence is attached to your Xbox and anyone who logs on even a second buyer.

That being said, the reason I stated that it is attached to your live account is that you would want to do a Factory reset? I think if you do that, you may have issues re-downloading the content initially without logging on using the user licence first. I'm not sure though and am not factory resetting my console to find out.

Just as a heads up, I would not just delete your account from the Xbox before selling it, I would do a factory reset and clear the cache. Maybe that's just me being paranoid.
