Xbox Live redeem code problem PLEASE HELP

Hey so I just bought a 12 month xbox live gold code and I've tried to redeem it on xbox.com, it's not invalid because when i enter it it tells me that its for 12 months, but when i hit confirm after that it just says Something went wrong. Sorry about that
give it a try in a while and it's been almost 2 hours since then. If you have any help for me please reply to me because I don't want all that money to go to waste. Also do these cards expire after a period of time?

hello, first, the cards do not expire. second, there could be a problem with your billing account. go to commerce.microsoft.com to update billing info and check that everything is filled and up to date.

 

Wait but I mean i bought a xbox live prepaid card code so it shouldn't need my credit card info

 

Also it's been hours since I bought the card and I just tried to redeem the code again but still it says Sorry something went wrong sorry about that. Give it a try in a while......So i still don't know what to do other than just wait and hope.

 

you dont need to add credit card info, but still you need to enter billing info, name, address and such

When I go to commerce.micorsoft.com and i click on billing info it already has my name, address and phone number. What else do I need?

Do I have to add my billing info somewhere else or something, because i've used a prepaid code before and never ran into this problem

 

if all entries are filled, then this should be correct.

in this case i suggest contact xbox Support to let them check for billing related issues with your profile

 

I just posted a tweet to xbox support and told them what happened but they said the code should work normally and they didn't tell me that I need to have billing info filled out or anything so I really don't know what's going on because I paid a lot of money
for that card and now it's just a waste

 

Have you tried redeeming it on the console? What error message/error code do you get there?

 

I have tried on xbox 360 console and it says my billing info has been locked from making purchases but I bought an online code on amazon??
